Default Rear Hatch.

Went shopping in my Z. When putting my groceries in the back, the hatch came down on my head! I have the Nismo rear spoiler, and it looks like the pistons can't handle the extra weight. I have the 05 SBTouring. The spoiler is under warranty. Is this a warranty job? Only have 3900 miles on it. Anyone have or had this problem?

Ouch! Did you change the strut when you had the spoiler installed? I think I will have that done when I get mine put on.

When I ordered the Z, I also ordered the front chin spoiler and the rear spoiler. The dealership installed them.

Most people do not install the stronger rear hatch stays...

When you get the Type E nismo wing it comes with a bracket to put in the hatch lifter to keep it from falling...

i think there is a weight in the hatch under the plastic, not sure, you can search/ and if it is, you can take it out and save a lot of that heaviness

The weight is on the left side, under the trim. It is there to counter the wiper/motor assembly. You can also remove the wiper motor and wiper, too.

I had the original OEM lip spoiler installed at the dealership when I got my car and they removed a ~15lbs plate. I later replaced the OEM spoiler with the Kaminari wing. I noticed that after the installation that the hatch would slowly start to slowly come down when it was opened all the way. They fixed it by changing the hatch struts. Sometimes when it's cold out, it starts to come down slowly again.

I've got the same problem, and no your warranty isn't gonna cover that. I just make sure to always keep a hand on the hatch to hold it up. sucks, but I'm also not gonna spend a hundred or so bucks to buy the heavy duty pistons.

, It's called the wiper motor .... good for 3lbs.
However, as others have said there is a counter weight as well.

I have a G35 spoiler on mine. Installed the upgraded shocks and took out the wiper motor and W8.

Mine works really good. Lol !!!

I don't get anymore.

Thanks people,
I'll see what my dealer says first. Then I'll take it from there, yes the hatch is heavy. Will post again when I have this checked out.
