350Z vs S2K Gearbox Shifting
Which one shifts the smoothest and the fastest with shortest throw? My friend just got his Z and when i shift, it feels real hard going into gear. For example, on the Z when i shift a gear, it goes "Boom, Boom". S2K it just goes "Boom". My S2K shifts like Butter, i can shift just using my finger. I heard that after certain Miles, the 350Z shifts real smooth.
Honda has awesome gearboxes....
Nissan has OK sometimes good gearboxes...
S2K have much smoother shifts but I can use a finger to change my gears too. Some people have serious issues with theirs though.

As a valet I can say I've driven just about everything. The S2000 is probably the best stock shifting car I've driven. The only things I can compare it to are a Viper and a Z06 I drove that had aftermarket short throw shifters.

S2K by far... my dad owns an 04 model and ive put a few thousand miles on it myself. VERY short throws stock, rifle bolt precision. The clutch has short travel too and is very easy in day to day traffic, i wish the Z's was like this. Z tranny is nice too, but i hate the stock clutch.

honda and volkeswagons are the easiet stick shift cars to drive, i owned an s2k before, and its smoother than the Z, its real easy car to drive stick on compared to Z, honestly i think the gearbox in the s2k is the ONLY advantage the s2k has over a 350z.
S2k's by far followed by a VW with a short throw IMHO, with the VW you need just apply slight pressure and it magically goes to the gear you want lol... I have to disagree with the viper tranny, the T56 is an awesome tranny but shifts are very "clunky" this only gets worse with short throws and the increased effort associated with them...

Fully agree....Also the Integra type R tranny was magnificent as well...Z tranny doesnt come close...I cant tell you the amount of times Ive missed a gear in the Z due to the tranny notchiness...Not in the same league as the S2K tranny....
And ditto on the Viper tranny....In terms of power handling its one of the strongest stock trannys and can withstand 1000hp and torque plus. A few guys are making 1500hp to the wheels and still using the stock T-56
..But in terms of shift quality it sucks big time. Read any mag and they lament about it.
S2K's a lot smoother. That's probably about the only thing I don't like about my car (don't really dislike it, but the clutch and the shifter are clunky and don't seem to match up quite right). However, at WOT it syncs up perfectly,
