First off, before you remove anything.. know this. With weight reduction, you need to either do everything, or nothing at all. If you only remove a few things here and there, you won't feel a thing except for missing your poor stereo and sound deadening. So its all or nothing with weight reduction.

go to the gym 5 days a week and eat only once a day...You will drop 50lbs off the weight of your car and it will be faster!!

Vette is based on a platform that is not shared with anything else and is designed for the Vette only. So they could lightweight it even with a V8. And the weight distribution is improved because of the rear mounted transmission.

130 lbs? I think you might have a 50-70lbs advantage over most drivers right there!

Some mods work, and some don't. Some work in pairs, and not with other stuff. Just because you bolted on 10 parts doesn't mean you increased horsepower Seems like with even a 2.2 60ft you should be running 13.7 or better with those "types" of mods, maybe there is a weak link who knows.

I am kinda with you though... once my brother rode with me, and I ran the exact same time/mph on the 1/4 mile. You are talking an extra 220 pounds and I ran the runs back to back... one with him, one without. Doesn't really make sense, but I think traction is the issue and everything else won't make too much of a difference until you fix that first.

also, who thought of putting windows on the Z? why the hell do we need windows? its a sportscar! windows add like 10 pounds. take out all the windows and replace it with that plastic wrap you use to wrap sandwiches.

get rid of the radio, the air conditioning, the dash plastic parts.the door panels, cup holders, antenna, the tires/rims. get 14" wheels, they weigh less.

get rid of that stupid trunk hatch. who needs a body kit?

okay so you'll basically drive around in a 350z that is totally unrecognizatable since it doesn't have the outside body kit, no hood, 14" wheels, but the bright side is your car will weigh less than 2500 pounds and you'll be doing 12's!!!!! all damn day!!!!! yes!!!!

oh and you gotta lose 50 pounds and only have a 1/4 tank of gas. and drain the water from the window washer, you don't have windows so why do you need window washing fluid? smart guy.!
Seriously some of you guys are too obsessed with the weight. you are talking fractions of seconds as the difference. I mean if you track the hell out of it MAYBE but to go to the extremes some people do is just a waste of money in the end they have a shell not a Z.

Just my 2 cents on the weight thing. Once you start scrapping AC and seats its getting out of hand. I took out my spare tire and the jack and I felt weird lol.

Cool. Any mods on your car? Based on your sig, it seems like you have the aero package, guards, kicks, bags (and the license plate holder). I run mine pretty much stock as well.

you're all going about it the wrong way, just follow these instructions, they took 2 seconds on the quarter mile time, just from weight shaving

I'm about 65kg, thank you...

And the "boot" wouldn't fit even a skinny, midget bloke, let alone a medium-sized chihuahua, so come on, now.

Don't ask, but a friend of mine tried to fit in the boot because he was convinced 3 of us could fit in the car, he got half under the brace but his legs were hanging out, i obviously found this highly amusing. (he must only weigh 60-65kg)

I didn't mean any offfense about regarding weight.

That's because it has a 6.0L V8 which would, at first glance, make the vehicle seem heavy. But the pushrod engine is the same physical size as the VQ. The chassis also benefits from various weight reducing modifications thanks to the larger pricetag.

I believe that the Corvette is larger in width and length than the Z too, adding to the illusion that it "should" be heavier.

None taken. We're the fattest country on earth, statistically.
