LOL....I cant believe this is a serious question....Where have you been for the past 13 years....350z vs M3 is understandable....But Viper vs 350z stock to stock is a joke.....A viper would slaughter a Z in every concievable performance parameter.....A regular Vette put almost 2 seconds a lap on the Z at Gingerman....A Viper or Z06 would probably put 3-4 second beating on a 350Z on that track....You could be struck by lightening for even bringing up this comparo...Blasphemy

Also Gen II[GTS] and Gen III[SRT10] do 11's @ 119-124mph its been documented by various publication and by owners. Also it pulls between .98-1.05 lateral g's. They dyno between 420hp - 445hp bone stock to the wheels.....A Z doesnt stand a chance straight line or in the twisties

 

I gotta keep in mind that the Z's are more of a track car, not 1/4 mile! Still, the Viper would spank the Z in a road track race too. I'm too used to the good ol' GP being designed for straight line and modified for good track results.

 

The Viper was designed as a Track car too...It is first and foremost a track car..It just happens to be a 1/4 mile monster at the same time..420hp and 490tq at the wheels you cant help but be a 1/4 killer....People forget that since the Gen II's came out the Viper has beaten Ferrari's, Porches, Lamborghinis on various tracks in tests...You cant do that if you are a 1/4 mile car...

 

Yea, that's what I meant. I didn't know it did better than the Ferrari's and Lambo's though, that's pretty sweet.

Aren't the new ones 550/550 crank? I would think there wouldn't be that much drivetrain loss, would there?

 

Between 96-02 Those year Vipers especially the GTS were pretty dominant vs the European car of that time ie Diablo, F355/350, Porsche 911 TT S etc...The new ones the SRT10 have 510hp and 535tq...They do have the typical drivetrain loss...They dyno between 430-445hp bone stock...Dont know the drivetrain loss percentage on that...Its very competitative with the current Euro supercars....

While the Murcielago is faster in a straightline the Viper is very competative with it on a track..there was a recent test where it went against the Murcielago and did better numbers on the skidpad, lateral g's and timed run...Not saying its faster than all cars but it can hold its own even against the new Z06 and Ford GT as well as the European supercars like Murci, Gallardo etc[not hypercars like Enzo etc]....

As you can see it is far far above our Z's level of performance stock to stock....Even a properly modded Z will have problems on a cuircuit track against stock Vipers, Z06, Porsches etc...They are natural born track killers...

 

Ive dragged the 2 cars together but my dad has a hennessey 650R so that doesnt really count. I beat a viper ACR with bolt ons to 65mph only cause the viper spun through 1st and alittle bit of 2nd then when i was at around 80mph he was about 6car lengths on me then i let down.

My friend has a 94' Viper and i drive a Vortech SC Z...... as soon as i get a new clutch and flywheel we are going to race.... i make 384hp and 311 tq. I think it should be a good race really am questioning who would win, i think he might have a little advantage b/c i have been in his car and it seems a lot more powerful b.c of the high tq #s so we will see what happens, any thoughts??

If it was a Gen II or III Id say fugedaboudit Buuut since its a Gen I you "may" have a chance especially if he blows the launch... Those Gen I Vipers put down between 380-400hp to the wheels..Yes they were underated at 400 crank. They weighed about 3400-3500lbs. Whats your weight?...Also they put out well over 400tq to the wheels...So its gonna be close but Ill give the nod to the Viper...You better hope he doesnt have any mods like i/e/h or gears or etc.....You'd be hard pressed to find a Gen I thats completely bone stock......Win or lose it doesnt matter... Just have fun racing a badass car
