I'm down for a race if anyone wants to keep talking. PS Autos are a half second slower and a few mph? So a stock 6MT runs 13.1? History does not apply to the Z ok? Automatics are getting better and better as the years progress and will soon be the standard.

5 gears vs 6! take your choice. i chose 6.
I choose 6 too, but a MT does *not* cost more than an AT. AT's usually cost about $1000 more, on any car, not just a Z.

exactly, that's why the Base model doesn't offer an AT tranny option.

I dont know if they will be the standard, but they have improved over the years though.

Its all about preference. Get what you want, stop slamming other because of what they drive. Its their car, not yours. They bought it, not you. Get over it.

I would only get an AT 350z if it was a sequential shift as proven as the M3, and six speed.

Jvanqiush you need to STFU with your useless thread. Well said Camaro 194. If we AT guys choose to drive an auto... thats our choice. You 6MT guys like to drive stick.. we don't say anything to you. Just know when you see your fellow Z driver on the road.. he or she shares the same passion for driving a sports car just as much as you do. End of story.

j/k

Had to throw a MT joke in there for all AT bashing. Lighten up people. There are
more important things in life than MT and AT. I never seen one issue divide so
many people in this forum.
i know this is/was a joke....

((and i joked about it earlier, see page 4 of this thread (because i could give a **** what anyone else drives, i got what made me happy, and i dont give a **** what anyone *thinks* about 6spds the same way i'd hope no one here would seriously get their panties in a bunch about what manual guys say about autos)).

but i would like to clear something up for the flamers in this thread (both MT and AT). its not about how fast the car is (especailly in a car like ours, which isnt really all that fast to begin with), sure there are a some AT guys that can stomp on the gas at the tree and beat an inexperienced/bad manual driver (and there's plenty out there, and i'm willing to bet plenty in this thread). And there are some very good MT drivers like "alberto" who would win stock for stock. so who really gives a **** about speed when in any specific race it could be either way depending on the driver.

i do think that there is a point missed/overlooked here about MT's. There is an experience that you do get with a MT that an AT can not provide. more control of the rpm range, "being connected/with one with the car", and all other sorts of phycial/emotional stuff. that's attractive... to me. that experience may turn a lot of people off. maybe that's "too much work", or someone really doesnt like hassle of a stick in traffic of on hills (that doesnt mean they cant drive it right, its just a pain in the @ss), or maybe they cant drive a stick worth a damn are too afraid to learn on a z, and really want a z right now, so they get the auto... it really doesnt matter - so long as you can respect fellow z'ers choices on becoming a member of this community. if it doesnt work for you - who cares. after all if nissan thought the shouldnt have been made with an auto, they wouldnt have made one.

but seriously, the "who's faster" arguement is a completely waste of time unless every z race in history and in the future will be an AT z vs MT z, with robots that make no errors driving in each z. other wise its about chance and not science.

have a nice day.

nick (cant believe this thread got to 11 pages, because it only has about 2 pages of anything worth reading)

autos have been the standard for most cars for at least 10 years now. The only time you see manuals anymore are in sports cars and cheap econo boxes. The fact still remains that autos do not belong in a sports car.

also, i'd love to see you back up your 13.4 run down here at hrp. I'm will to bet you'll have a hard time getting into the 13's.

that would be a manual transmission, not auto. SMG stands for sequential manual gearbox

if robots that made no mistakes were driving the cars against each other, the manual would win in every situation.

Why does that make him a dumbass? It was his choice for getting an auto... why does it concern you?0 It's not like he went in the delearship and said "oh I have to get a stick cuz if I get an auto my Z suddenly a sports car!!! . What about the people with medical conditions who cant drive stick because they have a blood clot in their left leg and can't move it around too much so they get an auto. Are they dumbasses too? If they are then you have sunk too low my friend.

So a robot has a higher chance of making an error against a human ? Even though it was programmed to shift at the right time like all auto's are?
