Who else hates the Badgering??
I don't care to read all these posts. But I got badgered around alot when I put a Supercharger on my '99 Civic EX AUTOMATIC. One ghetto redneck in a stick 80's RX7 said it was a waste of a honda.
I'd always get a dissapointed "Oh..." after they found out it was automatic.
It's like their racist against auto's I tell ya!

Well, you see, you get these closed, one track minded people who think that their way is the only way. It's their way or the highway. This is why America exists. Like minded people left to get away from the tyranny of close minded liberal pukes. This is why the world is better now than it was 2000 years ago, because open minded people saw a future with a better way of living, a more simplistic, advanced way of doing things. This is what makes the world grow, evolution. If these guys had their way, we would still be using hand cranks, manual steering, non power brakes, no air conditioning vehicles. Our top speed would still be 35 mph. These are also the people who hang onto cassettes because CDs are the devil. That's why there is a freaking cassette player in our cars. And we would still be using DOS with no internet. There would still be Pong and no Xbox 360.
SO, you can have your parachute pants, cassette players and MT. I choose to advance with the rest of the world and simplify my life in any way i can. Even at the cost of 21 year old malnourished minds who happen to be previous Civic owners.

hi all,
well lets see... i drove autos for most of my driving life all up till i was 22 years. all my friends started to drive sticks around when they were 17-19, they all got liked used cars to drive around and practice or new ones, they were taught by other people who knew how to drive stick. so when i got my Z i got stick..not knowing how to drive a stick..i knew the concept (balancing, rpms , etc, etc) and practice a little before getting my Z but not confident enough for my friends to drive there on cars, fearing that i would **** up the engine and stuff. When i got my Z my friend taught me and practicing just bout everyday.. u'll get used to it and so on..............

We aren't talking about the difficulty of driving it. Some find it harder than others to learn.
Some, like me, grew up on sticks. I was driving at the age of 10 around town where i grew up in a secluded town near Ft Myers Fl.
Our discussion was on how some people think that the MT is the only way to go and the AT is for your grandparents.
That the MT is far more superior than the AT.

i'm a supporter of both AT and MT.
what i don't understand is that the MT owners express they support SMG on
sports cars. yes, SMG is a manual gearbox... but it has a computer operated
clutch! isn't this the main argument people are using to say MT > AT? SMG
removes the slowest component from the MT (human controlled clutch) and
puts in the hands of a computer which much faster. This is why SMG excels.
Clutch management is the primary learning curve when driving MT. Remove it
and you have a car similar in operation, albeit not technology, to an AT with
manual mode. Like AT.. the SMG has sequential and automatic mode. So why
don't the MT owners complain that SMG is not for the purists?

And whether you wan't to realize it or not, MT is on the way out. I love MT
but I also recognize it. as stated earlier, only economy cars and sports cars
still offer MT. And most sports cars have already or are transitioning to more
advanced AT and sequential technologies.
It's about evolution. I'm sure the purists argued power-steering was gay or
for pansies as well. but now they shun anyone who doesn't have it. sad to
say the same will happen for MT. it's not about how much we like or dislike
it, it's about the bottom line to auto manufacturers. As more manufacturers
move to higher tech, they will follow to be competitive.
And yes, MT is considered low tech compared to AT, SMG, etc.
And let's face it... the people making more money are able to spend more $
on a car. And there is a higher concentration of these people in areas that
are congested and where MT is simply not an option unless you enjoy pain.
auto manufacturers don't care what you drive... MT or AT. they care about
$$. bottom line. just look at all the components in your car that have been
developed to help your car drive for you:
Hill Descent Control (HDC)
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
Porsche Stability Managemetn (PSM)
Traction Control System (TCS)
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)
Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG)
Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA)
Grade Logic Control (GLC)
and the list goes on and on. the fact that purists say they can control their
own car didn't stop auto manufacturers from putting these technologies into
their cars; sometimes optional and sometimes not. let's think for a moment
and ask ourselves just how sacred is the manually operated clutch to most
manufacturers at the end of the day? especially when cheaper to research
and maintain one build of a transmission. just look at the problems Nissan is
already having with its MT tyrannies!

I still believe that it is a matter of choice, such as the decision of cloth or leather interior, or convertible or coupe.
