Question How do I haggle for a Z?

Initially My plan was to order a Silvertone Enthusiast 5Auto.
I'll take 3 months according to all dealers I spoke with.
It's going to cost about 30T. Ok. things are a bit slow in winter,
I believe and the dealers are being allocated 2-3 Z's/month,
and of course they want to sell these to continue their
allocation. I went to one dealer and they showed me a brickred
touring 6M. THey said, it's negotiable! They want to deal. Not my car, but they proudly announced that 2 are
coming in Jan!!!! the dead of winter in these area. One is a Touring with 5auto Silver!!! I know that the MSRP on those is
about 32T. I'm playing on the idea to go there on the bleakest
winter day(when roads are passable), and say: Look, I'll
take that car for 30-30.5T!!! Do you think it will work????
I guess my question is how much can I haggle down from the
MSRP???? What's the invoice on a Touring 5auto???
What's the spread between the Invoice and MSRP on these
cars???? Thank you all you Z-heads.

When I first saw this thread, I was going to post something like, "You Don't." On reading what you've written, you might be able to get something. It helps that you're in South Dakota. If you were in Southern CA, well, good luck. I imagine the Z demand is somewhat lower where you are, and if you go on a the slowest day of a slow week, who knows?

There are some people here who have gotten their Z's for less than MSRP. Not too many though.

Good Luck, and pray for snow.

Just don't drive it home that day.

Can't hurt to try. To find invoice prices, go to either www.kbb.com or www.edmunds.com . Also, look around the classifieds here and maybe some of the other Z sites. Several dealers are posting sub-MSRP deals on cars.

As stated above-- just walk out. My fav. is asking a ludicrously low price and then when they get there -- say "Yeah, that's a good price, but I wanna check out carX before I decide"-- Oh God, its hilarious-- Gotta always have an angle, a way out if you don't want to buy-- Car shopping is my favorite!!

Cool Thanks all you Z guys.

I know exactly what to do. I'll call to verify the car, then
asked if sales are poor! Complain about the "economy"
and that they should sell whatever they have to keep the
allocation, and then offer to pay a Thou. over invoice!
Ask the guy to talk with the manager, and if it's a yes, then go!
if not, go to another dealer!!!Of course, they're good in playing
this game too, and may promise over the phone and not
keep it. It's all a game!

Go late in the month, like the last Saturday of the month.

Generally the sales people and the managers are much more willing to deal when they are all trying to hit bonuses based on total units sold.

Have all you're info including pre-approved financing (or at least know the rate you can get) and be ready to buy if the deal is good.

I figure 800 to 1000 over Invoice (not MSRP) is doable. Don't pay for Paint protection, Fabric protection, pin stripes, wheel locks or any of that dealer added crap (they mark that stuff up big time)

Be nice, get up and thank them for their time and walk out if they are not dealing.

Also deal with the sales manager directly if possible.

Good luck.

My 5AT Touring was about 33.5 w/o NAV or SplashGuards. You would have to get about $3K off. Maybe, I don't know.?
