I love my z and i love the acceleration when i stop then start i cant help it.

Any ways its lightly raining im stopped, takeing a left, of course i accelerate hard and i wanted to slide just a little but i slid all right, so im slideing to far to the right and try to correct it by turning right and mistake that violently shoves the car the other direction, basicly i can feel my self violently fish tailing as i am trying to gain control, the steering wheel all of a sudden becomes very hard to turn and i mean it was strong. but i did use my brakes and straighten my self out but if there was other cars around i would have did some damage.

Any ways its a small town every body knows that Z is mine and its ME in it. so im a jack *** but i most likely wont ever do it again, rain is dangerous, then again maybe i could have did that in dry weather too? dont know.

I do know i think i need a driveing course in slideing so i can control a situation like that.

ugh... i launched in the wet before and it goes off and just spins...
but taking a corner in the rain u have to give ur self some space for the drift ... but of course
DONT DO STUPID **** ON PUBLIC ROADS PEOPLE CAN GET HURT
or do it in an isolated reasons where no one is around :P (to see you screw up)

Yeah man, you can slide around those turns without the rain. I dont play in the rain, just to dangerous.

yes sadly 2 co workers seen me and every one in the gas station i almsot ran into and traffic passing by, so a TON of people seen me haha.

The 350Z is fun to push hard in all types of conditions: rain and shine. The problem is when you push the car beyond YOUR capabilities. Then you must automatically fall back on techniques that you’ve learned during training.

The best insurance you can get is a few good offensive driving lessons.... Those have kept me from killing myself a few time now....

Playing in rain is very dangerous, I don't care how great of a driver you think you are.

Leave yourself plenty of room and realize it's not like dry oversteer, once you cross that point that car is pretty much gone, and there is nothing you can do about it but hold on.

i think i will just cool down with my car and treat it like a car and not a toy, i dont want to run into any thing. i will invest in driveing lessons and drifting after the car is payed for if any courses and teachers are near by.

yeah, i wound up doing a big W in the road, topped off by a 180 on a wet road once.. All under 20mph... Luckily it was on an open wide spot with no other traffic. Sad part is I was not intending to do any sliding at all, just had TCS off..

Where in CA are you located? You know, there are plenty of tracks here on the West Coast. And even more car clubs to join in the fun of sporty driving.
BTW, did you let off the gas and just try steering the car back to a straight line or did you slam the brakes? Best you can do is let off and let the car roll, let your gears do the braking for you when you spin slightly out of control. Braking biases the weight to the front and further loosens your rear end.

What about defensive driving courses in other parts of the country? So far several Cali people have posted something on here about learning how to properly manuever the car in other than perfect driving conditions, but I haven't had much luck finding anything like this in Maryland, DC or VA. Can any east coasters help with this??

That's pretty much exactly what happened to me in my '05 Z after I had bought it and had it for 2 months or so last November. I didn't know my car's capabilities and decided to take a corner hard in moderate rain. Keep in mind that this is also my first RWD car. I fishtailed and made a whole 90 turn in the street, sliding sideways (facing the sidewalk). I basically skidded 1/2 a block or so! Luckily this was at 6:30am and there wasn't a car on the road and no parked cars either or else there would've been some serious damage. Needless to say, I drive very very carefully in the rain now and only "play" when it's safe.
