I learned about the “banging” technique here, and I’ll be damned, it works. I don’t believe that smacking the inside door panel temporally “fixes” the motor, but aligns the window properly in the track. The sensors will not allow the motor to activate unless the window is properly in place. That's what I think.

BTW aftermarket (and less expensive) motors are available for just about every car. Visit a shop (not Nissan) that you trust.
