Default So 4th gear blew on me tonight . . .

We'll I've been having tranny problems for a while, started off as grinding from 1st to 2nd at redline, then grinding from 4th to 5th near redline, now it grinds all the time from 4th to 5th and 6th to 5th. I brought it in two weeks ago and suposedly they are going through the process of requesting another tranny from Nissan. Well looks like I'll have to give them a call tomorrow and tell them to hurry up the process. Driving home tonight, perfectly normal might I add, I attempt to put it into 4th and its like a brick wall. I have no idea why, other than the fact that I have a bad tranny.
Oh well, I'm not really mad, I knew about the potential of having a problem unfortionatly when I bought the car, as long as it gets resolved soon I'll be fine with it. How long does the process take from the time the dealer requests a new tranny, until they actually recieve it?

Sucks don't it?

I have heard nothing about any changes (improvements) to the 2006 tranny either, so what does that tell ya?

Every time I read one of these "oh my tranny got fried threads" it really makes me wonder why I still read and research this car at all anymore

Sure wish Nissan would have fixed this d@mn problem. The tire feathering I could live with but I can't afford these kinds of problems on a daily driver, though shouldn't have to deal with these on any car, less than 5 years old.

Just got off the phone with my dealer and they're ordering me a new tranny, should be here in a few days they said. As annoying of a problem as it is, I have to commend Nissan for the fact that it seems like in most cases they resolve the problem as fast as posible. I just cant wait to start driving my car normally again haha.

I just had mine replaced at 44k or so, but it's blown probably since 25k or so. I guess I better extend my warranty, looks like this one will be going soon at this rate

this is still happening on the 05's? Nissan really needs to rethink the tranny design for these cars.

Well for whatever its worth 4th gear came back I dont really know why, I drive it to and from my college this morning, it was gone, then I was driving around a little while ago and 4th was there again. Who knows. Anyways, for whatever its worth I'm one of the only ones with an 05 tranny who experienced the grinding so dont worry too soon, maybe it was me? I drive pretty normal though I think. Oh well, after all this I still love my car lol.

60 months powertrain warranty. Thats 5 years from in service date of car. 03 Zs should be Ok until end of 07. Check In service date.

Hey guys.. I have an '05 as well so you guys have me worried. Is the tranny covered under our powertrain warranty? Since none of us have had the car for more than 60 months, did anyone have to pay anything to replace their tranny at all?
