I did mine by the Manual, did not exceeded 4500 rpms. I dedicated a 3 day vacation just to make sure it was done properly....The way I sse it you are not just breaking in the enjine, you are breaking in the suspension, brakes, steering...

Broke mine in untill 2500miles. Drove her like a baby. Then around 2600 I opened her up for the 1st time. She ran hard and mean. Very smooth across the rpm. She was just begging for it. Now I only have 8000 miles on her and she is very happy. So am I.

Whilw it's good to follow the instructions, modern engines really don't need to be broken in. The chance of something going wrong if driven hard is something like one in ten thousand. Also, it's perfectly fine to floor the car up to 4K rpm, that will not do any damage to the engine. It's just the higher rev's that are potentially more dangerous.

I broke it in how everyone here, the manual, and the dealer said to. I went on a road trip for a couple hundred miles, I was never at a constant RPM, and there was traffic where I would have to slow down and shift through the gears, so those few hundred miles helped keep my sanity, I of course have a hot rod dad so just a few times I went above 4Krpm nothing above 6K, but just to get the engine used to reving higher, I didnt want the engine to only know part of its range. I have about 16K miles right now, and went to the track a few weeks ago and was trapping 101.xx with my 19's on, I think my motor is pretty strong :P I only used Mobil 1 and the Performance Gold filter after break in, and have only put Chevron gas in my car. I could probably eat off the internals :P
Long story short, never stay at a constant RPM, and get up into the higher RPM's a few times with your foot to the floor, you should have a great strong motor....

I have had mine for over two weeks now, been driving it very safe and according to the manual. Did however launch it a few times and drove it hard up until about 3rd gear so hopefully no damage.

sadly i asked my dealer is there any speed i need to stay under?
he goes dont stay at any one speed, go between 60-80 keeping it all over the place, DO NOT USE CRUISE CONTROL (to this day at 3500 miles i still dont use it) Sadly i asked him is there any where on the RPM range i need to stay in? Can i really accelerate the car while breaking in.
The dude said just dont red line it. I was hard on my car while breaking it in for the first few days. I allways accelerated from Zero if the engine wasnt cold and let it shift up gears thinking it was good to get it use to this motion.
I for sure went over 4k rpms like once a day, in like a 20 day period to break it in. i hope i dont pay for this.

I drove mine like i stole it. Drive it now, as you want to drive it in 15-20k miles. Consistant RPMs isnt good, Up and Downs its the way to go. Hit 135 second day i had it, and now at 13k, engines runs great. Ive spoke with many Nissan Tech's along with few outside mech, one of which my uncle, of which gave me the advise of driving the car in its early years, as you want to drive it later on.
Consistant Maints, proper Maints and well tuned engines are key..

90% of the cars that you guys bought, unless they were directly off the truck and into your garage, were driven over 4k on the test drive. I know when I test drove mine, I was at redline.

And FWIW, somebody out there has an '04 Daytona Blue Z with AT that I redlined when it had 4 miles on the odometer. Sorry.
