Default Brickyard vs Interlagos Fire - telltale pics

Finally was able to park my BY next to an IF for some side by side comparison pics.

I'm too lazy to repost all my conclusions here. You can see the full thread and write I have done by cutting and pasting the URL below into your browser...

Interesting. Both colors are still "weird" IMO. But yeah, I can see the purple vs brown now.

Brickyard owns Interlagos. My old 3000gt is just about the same exact color as BY.

Not a good picture (you can't see the flake) but you get the idea

I'm not exactly sure why, but IF always seems to look great when I see it in person (especially in the light), but I want to ralph when I see pictures of it. It's not a very photogenic paint scheme.

Andy,
Nice photos of the two. My vote still goes to the Brickyard! I just found out that the Interlagos is a $500 hit as well. Did the Brickyard cost more too?

I saw an Interlagos Fire around here a couple days ago. It was a grayish day and it didn't look very good at all. Very dull and ugly. However, I have seen some in the bright sun at the dealship and in just the right light is has some really interesting hues.
However, you step two steps to the right or left and it is too dark for me even on a sunny day. I have to say, I do not like the color shifting that much on a car.

I love the Brickyard. I would buy one if I was in the market and they still built it. I would not buy a Interlagos Fire however. It just doesn't look right to me.

This answer is incorrect. None of the 2003 colors cost a premium. It has been speculated that Brickyard's early demise was a combination of low order volume (the color swatches available made it difficult to determine how it would look in person) and a relatively expensive paint process. Regardless, there was no extra charge for ordering a Z in Brickyard (or any other color) in 2003.

Brickyard is still offered in europe. Not sure if it is called that name there, as colors are named differently in other markets. They stopped it here because of low orders of that color.

Also not true... Brickyard was a US only color offered in 2003. It wasn't even available in Canada.

I just got back from ten days in Japan, spending most all that time with different Nissan execs and attended the Z fiesta at Tochigi. I spoke with one of the guys who was an exec in from a eupoean office, and he said that the brickyard never ceased production in europe. Like I said, it might be called by a different name there. There is now a chance it could come back after we talked with people like Yukawa and Nakamura (the spelling could be way off on those names, and their business cards are not handy).

Your source is wrong. Only the US got Brickyard. Maybe they're confusing Interlagos Fire with Brickyard. A simple search here on my350z.com on "Europe" and "colors" would yield you the following '03 information...

In France and the rest of Europe, the 6 colors available in 2003 were...
Pearl Grey (Chrome Silver)
Cloud Grey (Silverstone)
Ebony Black (Super Black)
Amber Orange (Lemans Sunset)
Ruby Red (Redline)
Monterey Blue (Daytona Blue)
see attached image of '03 brochure

I think Canada got everything the US did, BUT Brickyard. Most of the colors had different names there as well, tho... Super Black = Ebony, and so forth.

Here is the UK color list (posted by UK member sbonell in September 2003):
Chrome Silver = Blade
Silverstone = GunMetal
LeMans Sunset = Sunset
Daytona Blue = Azure Blue
Super Black = Kuro Black
Redline = Chilli Pepper
Brickyard = N/A
PPW = N/A
Orange leather = Alezan

Note same colors as France, just diferent names.

So much hating on the IL fire. I find this color simply stunning in the daylight (not in pictures, but in real life)

Some of you IL Fire guys should defend your color from this hating
