Default How high is your clutch engagement point? (Stock)

I just got a new stock clutch and flywheel installed on my 05,
and the clutch starts to engage when the pedal is almost released all the way.
Basically it engages like an inch or half inch before it's fully released.
Does that sound about right for stock? When I first got the car engagement
point was still damn high, but I don't remember being this high.
How are your stock engagement points?

Any way to lower the engagement point?
I've already read the thread about turning the **** on the pedal,
but it seems like it only adjusts the pedal, not the engagement point itself.

Thats how my 06 is... its taking me awhile to get the hang of it, this is the first car that I have ever driven that engages like this, most cars (especially sports cars) have the clutch engage really low to the ground, atleast all that I have driven.

This is one of my biggest and only real gripe about the Z, the damn clutch is rediculously high from stock. It makes driving around town and whatnot a real pain to shift smoothly. You can adjust the pedal height, which does lower the engagement, but there are drawbacks. If you lower it too much, which isnt a lot, the cruise control wont work because in turn, you have to adjust the cruise engagement button. I'm not one for fooling around with the cruise assembly and wiring so i never moved it. Also, i found that lowering the pedal screws up the tension for the pedal spring, so when you release the clutch it kinda sticks on its way back up, and gets very annoying. It almost feels like the clutch isnt fully disengaged. I hope aftermarket clutches fix engagement problem.

Mine is also pretty high, almost at the top. I dont mind it at all, I actually like my cars to be set-up that way because when I race I only push the clutch in about 1/2 way never to the floor.....

So I wasn't the only person with this ridiculous high engagement point!
En-GLaived, is your 06's clutch also light? I believe they installed the
latest clutch on mine, and it was pretty damn light clutch.

Yes, my 06 has a very light clutch and high engagement as well. Taken me a little to get used to. My Evo had a really stiff clutch.

The Z clutch forces you to drive properly: Drive with your left foot on the kick plate.

How would that help? I have tried like every single seat position possible... Also, yes my clutch is really light also, coming from an SRT-4 to this, my left leg was all beefy from the srt-4s clutch =P

[B]My clutch was very "tight" for the first 3,000 miles - I thought I would never get used to it - and I have owned a number of clutch autos over the years. The 1990 300ZX was nothing like this. I was killing at intersections when I had to wait , etc, very embarrassing! Someone suggested they had put a racing clutch in this auto- could that be?? Anyhow, just my 2 cents.

Read this discussion thread and decide for yourself if you want to give it a shot. There is a way to adjust the clutch pedal height, something I've given serious consideration of doing.

This is my first Manual transmission.. and i must say that the clutch does kick in high on the pedal compared to a couple of cars i have praticed on... But after driving it everyday for like 2 weeks, i got use to it... iam smooth, i just need to work on slaming through the gears haha

OK here's something new,
Since my new clutch's engagement point is too high, i decided to
do a test and try stalling the car on purpose by
putting it into 1st gear from stand still and let out the clutch.

Guess what, it's IMPOSSIBLE to stall my car!
I can get the car moving from standstill just by using my clutch,
fully released without pressing gas!!!!!!
I tried so many times to stall the car, and it looked like it was
going to die due to no gas input, but when the clutch was fully released
it still kept on going!!!
Mind you the ground was completely FLAT.
Only time I managed to stall the car was when I actually had
my break pressed on firmly while releasing the clutch.

man WHAT THE HELL

Thats weird my 06 clutch is practically on the ground before it engages. After i shift i can pull my foot off about an inch and be in the next gear.

+1, it was always my understanding that a higher engagement point on the clutch was better for racing. When you're racing and shifting quick, you just have to engage it an inch from the top to shift, rather than spend extra time and depress your foot further down.

I had this figured out several months ago - at least in 1st gear - I have a "dip" where the street meets the drive to the carport - there being an incline from the dip to the carport. I have to drive into the drive on an angle or my car will "bottom" on the dip. Before I get to the dip I stop- put the car in 1st gear - let out on the clutch - and dont step on the gas - the car feeds itself enough to go very slow through the dip and continue until I get completely in the carport - then step on the clutch and brake! I dont know how steep an incline the car will sustain itself without using the gas pedal - or if it will do it in 2nd gear ( ?? ). Very interesting - but never had a car I could do this with before.
