No. All auto glass marked with “DOT” meets the same federal requirements. I am no aware of “better” glass.

Thousands of needlepoint pits that rainX kinda helps with, but when the sun hits the windshield just right, they're very visable and distracting.
Geico will replace the windshield for $50.00 (PPG, I think) but I just haven't gotten around to it.

Vicynax,

Are you sure that your new windshield is an OEM? Does it say NISSAN in the lower left corner, because a Nissan glass list for $834 bucks and thats just the glass not including the install. I was quoted $325 for a PPG replacement.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it's PPG, which is one reason I've been holding off on the replacement.

Nissan doesnt make thier own glass. It is made by PPG, Pilkington or one of the main OEM glass proviers. You will definatly pay alot more to have the "Nissan" stamp, but it comes from the same factory.

my big problem on my car has been acid rain spots. It has actually eaten away at the glass. Thing is, it only has happened on the side windows. It was bugging me for the longest time, but I found out that very fine steel wool and rubbing compound do wonders for it. All my windows look flawless now (minus one small spot where I tested a steel wool that wasnt fine enough :-()
