i've been wondering this myself. and all i know is that any dealer service is over priced, but it could be worth it to have dealership services in your car record, it makes good resale value.
but for those who do not want to pay up the butt, which services would yall recommend to be done? ie manual trans/differential fluids? or have someone tighten all the bolts and screws? what about air filter change? a/c service?

My local dealer sends out sales flyers every three months or so. It's the same flyer with a different expiration date. 30,000 was $280.00 I think, but I'll have to check it at home. Call your dealer to see if they are running any service specials, or do they want to offer you one for your business. I'll check and post in about 2 hours.

just a little FYI, if your dealer says anytihing about a timing belt, go to another dealer.

The Z has a timing chain and requires no maintainance. Should last 100K miles or more

Several items in the service are worthwhile: oil and filter for example. But the remainder are just visual inspections. Why pay to check tire pressur?.

Okay... as promised Here's what the flyer says: Major service at 30,000 miles $289.95 which includes 32 inspect/adjust/or replace items. Again, I suggest calling and asking for specials, and if they want your business.

I did my 30k service myself. Mostly changing the tranny and differential oil (Royal Purple), oil change and new filter (both mobil 1), change the coolant, check your fluid level etc. All said and done with top parts and materials cost me less than $100.

It's not worth it in dollars. But, it's always nice to have the dealer service techs looking over your car components right before your warranty is up. Even if you bought the extended warranty. Just a little piece of mind.

Make sure they don’t charge you $19.95 for Under Steering Fluid.

First off why would anyone change the trans fluid at 30K miles? It should have been replaced when they replaced the tranny back at 18-19K miles

On another note, I believe the 350Z has a timing belt just like the 2G 300ZX. Do keep in mind timing belts now adays go to 100-120K before needing to be replaced. however, 15-20 years ago 60K on a timing belt was pretty normal.

I just changed the Timing belt in my 98 Civic the manual listed 105K.

If the Z had a timing belt, I might not have bought it in the first place...

/me been stranded in the middle of nowhere twice because of timing belts on non-Nissan cars.

That $400.00 is a killer to pay, the last car I had I only changed the oil, coolant and brakes and that thing lasted me over 100,000 miles with not one engine or transmission problem.

I just paid for mine....440 to be exact. The check everything too...so i think its worth it, just in case if there's anything that need to replace. I think it's just like going to a doctor for a yearly check up; just because you feels fine doesn't means that everything in your body is ok....like cholesterol level for example. This kind of thing it's more like a piece of mind, you know. Anyway the Z is a high-performance car, this is the price you pay for having something more than a normal car.

The Evo is worst, each oil change cost me $75.
