Default Lifetime Alignment

Hi,

I'm getting the lifetime alignment deal at Firestone. I have the tire feathering problem and am putting new tires on. From what I read and searched, the tire feathering problem goes away once you change your tires and your alignment.

I heard Nissan came out with new alignment specs for this problem. What specs should I tell Firestone to set my alignment to to avoid tire feathering?

Thanks!

I did the exact same thing... Bought new tires and lifetime alignment at Firestone. They SHOULD have it in their system already with it being up to date and all. I couldn't remember what the specs were exactly when I went in to get my alignment. They desired specs from the sheet Nissan gave me was 0.02mm (toe-in I'm guessing?)

I asked them what specs they used and they said something like "+8" which I think means .008" but I'm not positive. I'm at work right now and I have the specs sheet at my apartment. I can give more info if someone doesn't beat me to it.

I haven't had any problem with feather and its been since April (about 15k miles since then).

If Firestone is doing alignments, shouldn’t that have the latest tolerances?

hehe.

I have the Firestone Lifetime alignment plan also. You can't really beat it.

But now they take forever with my car...

Just bring it to different locations...

back on the subject. You may have to show them to be 100% sure, but if the specs are out for a while then it may be in their system.

This feathering problem seems like a real nightmare from what I have been reading. I bought my Z used and have since put about 7k miles on it and there is still no signs of feathering whatsoever. So I am thinking that if you take it to the right place it is something that can be permanently fixed...

Is Firstone saying they will align free for life after buying tires/alignment? I doubt there is a "permenant" fix and you are likely to be going back.

I thought the spec was 2 mm toe in. Thats .08 inches total toe in. Caster and camber are not adjustable on our cars so the alignment is pretty easy for the front end.

It is a one time fee that is paid, for a lifetime of alignments on the vehicle. You really can't go wrong....I have not had "feathering noise after my alignment and replacement tires.
I plan on getting an alignment at least every other year(maybe once a season, if it comes back).

There was a deal where you get lifetime alignments are Firestone for $99.99 plus tax.

I got that for my Z right away. It's the only way to go.

I've taken my Z in for alignments like 6 times already in the past year. LOL talk about taking advantage of the policy...

The tires on my 18 still did feather a small amount and there was alot of excess growl. But atleast the tires lasted.
