Default Roof of my car just keyed.

What should i do?

Leave it? - i'd notice it every time i enter my car... its just above the driver side door.

Take it to the dealer (Performance) to see if they could touch it up? - i dont know how well they could touch it up...

Repaint it? - I'd guess the cost of repainting something like this would be $200? would it be worth it for some sort of peace of mind?

AgHhhH... its driving me insane!!!

I had some ******* crack my A pillar molding while replacing my windshield and yeah I can understand that horrible feeling every time you see it. I'd get it professionally fixed, definitely.

Whether it's a touchup or a repaint, well, that sounds like a semantics question of how big the scratch is. I imagine that it'll cost about the same whatever they do to it to make it look like new.

No pics right now..... dont have my camera with me. But its about an inch long... not too big. Two marks actually... one about an inch long... and CURVED... so it could be seen at almost all light angles in the daytime. The 2nd mark is like.. a mm long, right next to it, like a quick tap of the key or something...

I hate it... i mean i feel terrible cuz its such a small mark, but i can see it at nearly all angles cuz its curved.

Yea... im glad people are agreeing with me about fixing it and not just leaving it... it makes me feel better about whatever money im about to spend to fix it. I guess thats what sets us Z owners apart from others. I asked my friend w/ a WRX and he laughed at me saying how i care too much. whatever... he doesnt understand.

Do you guys think Performance would do a good job on the touch up? Im hopinh they will and will go in first thing tomorrow morning for the touch up (and oil change). Performance hasnt let me down yet so... hopefully itll turn out well.

I think your best bet is prob touchup. If Performance can't help you out, go to a good used car dealer (high dollar cars) and ask them who does their touchup work. They almost always have someone who can help you out. Would be a shape to repaint.

After calming down a bit about the key mark... its actually not TOO bad... a little less than an inch long but still curved and noticable (maybe only to me...) but damn... at least i have hope now that it can be touched up to look better.

Anyone here have any experience with touch ups?

How about filing an insurance claim. You do pay premiums right.

If its like you describe, its not a major repair brother... I know how it feels, but trust me, find a trusted body man, and ask for a quote to ''Spot treat'' the area in question.
It will not be an expensive job.....

A fellow **** Z/G owner,
Cheers and good luck!

Some people are really good at touching up stuff at local body shops. Just have them check it out and do it right. I know it sucks but if it's expensive file a claim with your insurance, .

Got a pic of this (or a photoshop) on a Silverstone Z?

I could see it looking nice... the Z's roofline is a bit weird at CERTAIN angles...

glossy black tops are nice. They make the roof look like big moonroof.

it costs more money to make a claim if its less than $1000 to pay cash for the situation in most cases. once you make a claim, your rates go up. i slid off the road in my first car into a guardrail. 4k in damages and they told me i would end up paying close to 6k extra over the next 4 years of insurance if i claimed the accident. so i paid cash, and still got cheap insurance.
