Default gas tank mystery

My car has 23,000 miles on it, and a few weeks ago, all of a sudden, it started taking about a gallon less gas to fill up the tank. The gas mileage hasn't gone down any, I'm getting about 300 miles out of a 14.5 gallon fillup, as opposed to the 320-330 I used to get from 15.5. I have no idea what's going on! It's been this way at every gas station I've tried, the pump stops at 14.5 gallons from a nearly empty tank and will only add a splash of gas if I try to pump some more. It's not really an issue, but I'm curious as to what's going on?

At around 30,000 or so miles, I began to have problems with my fuel gauge. It was showing that I had less gas than I actually did. I still have the problem from time to time. It got to the point where I would see that I was out of gas according to the gauge, but when I would fill her up, it would only take 9 to 10 gallons. I would then start the car and it would show me that I was still below full even though I couldn't squeeze anymore gas into it.

when my gauge hits empty on a long drive... 10 mins later it goes up to 1/4 tank again... it does this two more times, then i go fill up and only get 16 gallond in before it over fills....

i think its the tank level sensor....
