If this is indeed true, could the forum administrators help you out in finding out information about him? While privacy is a concern, if he is committing fraud I believe there should be exceptions.

That's terrible. This is why I am skeptical about buying anything from ebay or individuals. I hope you either get your money back or your parts one. He should at least let you know if there has been any delays in the shipping process. If you do get in touch with him ask him for a tracking number.

I hate seeing people get ripped off like this. What kind of lame people do we have posting on here? I'd call the AG in his area, see what they have to say.

keep calling him too, I'd try at like at 2am (buts thats just me). See how much he likes that over an extended period of time.

yep but FYI I think they may have changed that recently. I noticed I was able to reply/post in a private classified thread (the guy selling the JIC Ti exhaust).

Hey Dave,
Just out of curiousity, how would being able to reply to a FS: thread keep you from getting ripped off? I'm not arguing, I'm just not seeing it.

Hmm....Well, I see you have a trader rating of 4 and all of them are positive. (You get where I'm going with this.... )

You're right, it's another way to indicate how that particular sale went...I like the whole trader rating system because it's a little more...."consolidated", and hey, if it works for ebay...

it works on ebay because everyone does it (because thats whay ebay is about) but on here most people do not use it making it pretty much useless. Its also hard to get started with it. I've bought tons of stuff on here from individuals and GB's and I have 2!
Like I said it looks like they changed the policy anyhow...you can now reply in classifieds and this is a good thing.

Well, everyone says we as a community should "watch each others backs", and it takes no more time to update the trader rating system than it does to post that you had a good or bad experience. IMO, it's kinda frustrating that people jump up and down about how the forum should "do something" about fraudulent sellers/buyers, yet they won't go update something that everyone can use to warn others and protect themselves...I'm not speaking of anyone in particular, but it is commonplace these days that people want to point the finger at "the forum" stating that it should do something about a problem that we as a moderation/administration staff can do little about besides ban a username (which solves nothing, in fact if you use the trader rating system, it's a BAD thing).

Anyway, yeah, the policy has been changed, but we're awaiting admin confirmation that it's going to stay that way or not.

Yep, I understand completely. The trader rating system is relatively new. I'm going to make some stickies at the top of the private sale forums reminding folks to do this. Maybe it'll start to catch on. Maybe that's one positive thing that will come of this ordeal (not that it makes speedlimit feel any better).

It really is a system for the communal good.
