It only happens to me when exiting the car (especially when wearing dress pants and shoes), probably due to static from the seats.

+1...could also be from the floor mats. I'm thinking about switching to those aluminum floor mats...may it'll help reduce the static!

I didn't notice it as often in the summer, but it happens a lot more in the fall and winter.

doesn't happen in to me in the summer, but it happens all the time in the winter (probably due to the dry air). If you want to avoid it, you can just touch your key to the body of the car before you touch the handle...that should discharge most of the electricity.

+2, weird thing is it never happens when it rains. Now, every time I exit the car i pull on the door panel the shut the door - never got shocked again.

You have to make sure your Steel belted radials are grounded properly.

i dont want to touch the actual door to close the door because then it leaves hand smudges and prints on the paint. i have a 06 Daytona Blue Enth 6 speed, and hand prints dont really look good on the car... so i guess im gonna continue to get shocked or wear gloves when i close the door =)

Some people generate more electricity then others, that's why some people get shocked while others(like me) do not get shocked.

Now, Have you ever seen cars driving around with two little strips at their back of their car that go right down to the ground? I just thought they were sensors for when people back up their car. But it turns out they are anti-shock strips with a cooper middle to ground the car preventing shocks or reduce shocks.

Hope this helps.

I'm sure they are available at your local car store.
