I dont know, but maybe you have to ask yourself. Do you like being stressed out all the time?

I surely dont, and if the car has a mind it would probably feel the same way.

No, that is why it has a limiter and you are really not redlining just ruining your driving experience.

It's totally up to you (and the limiter) but redlining isn't the end all in driving the Z.

The Z reaches peak torque around 6grand so taking it past isn't helping your cause any. In fact, doing so will hurt you in racing as torque is lost hence performance.

Actually peak torque is at 4800, and peak HP is around 6200.

Depending on the situation you will usually want to shift close to the peak HP so you can take advantage of the gearing. In otherwords, your wheels will be pushing the car forward with more force in 2nd @ 6400 RPM, than they will in 3rd @ 4800 RPM, even though the engine torque is greater at 4800 RPM.

OTOH, depending on the situation it may be more fun to drive between 3500 @ 5500 in 3rd, rather than keeping the revs up and having to shift between 2 and 3 all the time. It all depends on the situation and the type of driving you prefer.

Your not damaging your engine as long as you let it warm up before doing this, however, you are wearing your engine down much quicker. When we race we can usualy squeeze out 3000-5000 miles out of an engine but then it needs to be rebuilt. Don't freak out because in racing we redline, or try to, on every shift (that's with the rev limiter reset and higher redline) unlike the street where you'll do it maybe once or twice in a 15mile trip. If your blasting from light to light I would think your putting more strain on your driveline as apposed to your engine. Chances are you'll have to replace those peices before an engine rebuild.
