I got the injen exhaust and it is rattling on that aggravating brace. My poor header fitment on my passengers side causes the exhaust dont to move much at all. So if it cant be removed what could i do to make it clear. It rattles just at low rpms . Its probally clear but by not much at all. I guess the vibration at the lower does it. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure, but it really helped me when I was installing my exhaust from jackstands. Took away a lot of the pain when I was mounting the new pipings.

Loosen the bolts on the exhaust and put a small block of about 1/2 inch thick between exhaust and the brace. Then tighten the bolts. When you remove the piece of wood the exhaust should have enough space that it won't rattle.

that brace saved my azz when i ran over a semi tire, it would have wiped out a bunch of stuff w/o it. as it did toast my front a rear bumpers from flipping all under there, put some scratches on brace, would hate to see what it would have done w/o it? my 2 cents.

Ok La Forge! Smoking too much of that klingon-crack.

Take it for all it's worth, but one of those Best Motoring videos was comparing the underbody of a G and Z. They mentioned how that "M" brace significantly stiffens the car up more compared to the G35c chasis.

Our driveshafts are also CF and made to shatter and absorb the impact in a head-on collision. The "M" brace might be contingent on making that feature possible.

I would say that removing it is a bad idea. But since nobody has done it perhaps you could be the first and let us know what happens.

If you look at that M-brace in the larger scheme of structural rigidity, I think it would be unwise to remove it. If the rattle is bothering you (which I can understand), get some header-wrap (heat wrap, whatever you call it), and wrap the pipe until the wrap is cushioning the pipe against the brace. Then just metal-tie the tape at the ends. You might have to change the tape out once a year or so if you drive in the rain and such, but should be ok otherwise.

Again, I don't think I'd remove that brace. A cross-member of that size in that location has to be critical to the rigidity of the chassis (IMHO)

Hahaha nice question. Would it be ok if I took those 4 round things off. There seems to be 2 on each side of the car. I'm hoping to save .000000000000001 in the 1/4 mile.

The weight savings from taking off the 4 round things is far outweighed by the reduced traction loss of driving on the brake discs.

I had a terrible exhaust rattle also, so I sympathize with your frustration bec. it takes all enjoyment at driving out of the equation, I just took it to an exhaust shop, they put it up on the rack, beat around until they found the place where it was rattling (you are already ahead there), and they heted it up and bent it and did not charge me; has worked perfectly since, couldnt ask for a better deal, look around your town for a small exhaust shop and have them take care of the rattle, I would have paid any $ to have it done.

1st can i ask WHY you want to remove it???

wow considering your a JETPILOT id think you would have guess right away..

if ya notice it has serrated like edges like an ice saw. and holes in it.
if it were stiffening wouldnt it be more solid?

its part of the "underbody" air flow management" like the black diffusers and the diffuser attached to the factory exhaust.. i believe those serrations keep it from making windnoise at HIGH speeds..

and contributes to stifness
