Last time I check the GT had 300hp and that is what my Z has. Not to mention my Z looks about 10 times better.

We are talking 4.6-liter single-cam V8. And yeah sports cars will always look better than muscle cars. But I am talking power.

this is a true statement. the camaro ss and transam were underrated from the factory.

needless to say if he doesnt spank you in a race then hes doing something very wrong. that 5.6l motor is very powerful.

Ya'll have to remember it's all up to the driver skill and level being up to par with the car he/she is owning. A person can own a more powerful car than yours but if he/she doesn't know how to use it to it's full potentional then it can be a close race or quite possible that he/she could lose. I'm refering to the 1/4 but on top end again the LS1 is too strong. I race a dude with a GTO 400hp LS2 motor and I was on his a$$ at the track, literally like 1 car length on me and no more. I know this car should of aleast beat me by 4-5 car lengths but that was not the case. I just happen to be a better driver but I couldn't over come the power of the car. I was power shifting and he was lifting to shift. 350z Vs SS can still be a drivers race if the Z driver can pull a 2.0 60ft on street tires and have a good R/T assuming the SS will also be on street tires.

My first time out drag racing down at Rockingham was against an SS Camaro. He handed me my ***. I think I lost by something like a half second.

not to beat a dead horse....

I drove a few 350's and came real close to getting one until I found a 6spd convertible corvette for a little less money. Unless your Z is blown you won't beat an SS in a straight line. Their underrated. They're a match for me in my C5 on the straights at least, but in the curves....

bottom line, if your talking about what the car can do the SS is faster in the 1/4. if your talking about what happens on the street or at the track, then the SS does not always win.

Thumbs up SS vs Z

Stock for Stock. SS will beat the Z. With a few mods, it's a diff story. Z28 you can def beat. I beat a Z28 newer body style, on a highway bad. I only had intake. I raced a SS on this past Sat goin home. Beat it by 2 car length and a half. Def had mods on it. Can hear it, not only that. It was shooting flames out of back of car. We raced off a roll, I still beat him, but by a car. I also had a passenger and he didn't. If you can drive, and learn ur car. You will surprise alot of cars out there with a Z. Especially if it's a lil modded. VQ!

not even close! My previous car was a '98 SS. I ran it a few times at Ennis Motorplex. Ran 13.47 @ 103mph stock with stock tires. My 60ft was terrible. I loved the car but the damn thing kept falling apart. Water pump, fuel pump, left and right turn signals, air conditioner made a funny noise, clearcoat was coming off the spoiler, brakes kept squealed even after having them worked on, mass flow sensors died, shocks went to hell, fuses for the airconiditioning fans died. Those are only some of the problems I ran into with that damn car. Oh well, sorry about the rant.

Few mods with Alberto driving it. You better pull sub 13.5 1/4's to even have a chance. Not many Z's will do that with just a few bolt ons. If you had two Alberto's driving one with the slightly modded Z vs Alberto in a stock Z28 or SS, the LS1 spanks the Z everytime.

My roommate has an '01 SS, with a super sucker intake and exhaust. I've ridden in the car many times, driven it a few, and we've had a few informal runs. We've been meaning to get around to running the cars properly. But my expectation is to get stomped. The top end is incredible... 0-60 in both cars feels about the same, but the difference is that the Z starts to die off around 70-80 and his will pull just as hard up to 100. It's fun to drive; a loud, fire breathing beast that won't hesitate to hang the back end out. I could never own one though, I hate the interior and the car is way too long for my taste. But the handling really isn't that bad. If any of you watched the T2 runoffs, f-bodys did pretty well... they took #3 and #4, off the top of my head. I know no Zs finished in the top 10.

Depends on the driver I smoked a WS6 from a stop before my vortech in my G35 and a 383 stroker mustang bad from a 45mph roll after I got the vortech on in the g35 3 out of 3 runs.

The LS1 Fbodies are under rated from the factory, and unless you have bumped you Z to about 300 WHP, you will need to get lucky. They also respond well to power mods.

I have respect for LS1 cars, and think the LS1 and other modern LS engines are some of the best made. I wish they would have put it in a light smaller car though for the Camaro, but then it would have out done the Vette. The New Z06 is pretty darn good.

I have driven quite a few Fbodies on track and they are respectable, but really can not put that power down, at least not in stock form. I had better times in a 140 HP 1900 lb car than in a 340 HP Fbody. In a 1/4 or other straight line format, the fbodies will shine.

there isnt much difference other than cosmetic between an ls1 anything unless you get a fully optioned slp firehawk or SS those can get upto about 345hp other than that a regular SS or firehawk is go at the same speed as the rest of them. the "ram air" that they put on there is nothing more than cold induction which isnt very cold on the ss's as the ducting is right over the hot engine.

Just cause Alberto can drive his car, doesn't mean anyone else can't. How do you know I'm not if so as good or better. Try 13.3 in 1/4. With my Axis 19'. He was running 13.7 with all his mods, except ecu reflash. I ran a 13.7 with intake and exhaust ONLY. I guess Alberto is not the only one that can drive around here. I just don't like to brag or throw up my times. Don't like 2 cause, i rather be underrated. Nothing against Alberto, seen his clips and give him credit. Good driver. But not the only one.
