Default gear grinding?

So i was driving home tonight and i was on the gas till about 5k rpm on 4th gear, then i stepped on the clutch to shift to 5th, but when i was on the clutch it was grinding for about 2 seconds and i didn't even more the shifter. Has this ever happened to anyone?

Happened to me, my tranny is being replaced at this very moment. Do a search, you'll see this is a pretty common problem.

hmm ur 4th is probably gone then.. it really depends on what nissan wants to do with it, if they feel its repairable then they will probably just rebuild the transmission, if it wasnt under warranty then of course they will probably charge you your house for getting a brand new transmission. your car IS still under warranty right? and yeah you CAN take it to any nissan dealer you want. doesnt have to be the one you bought it from

this is what i thought as well but from reading threads on here most if not all people are saying that there is only 3 yrs/36K miles warranty on Z. I know for a fact that on other Nissan vehicles they have 3/36 bumber to bumper warranty and 5/60 on powertrain. can anyone confirm this?
