I'm getting mine redone this month, after it was VANDALIZED . Yeah they should have taken everything out, headlights, bumpers, tail lights, moldings, mirrors, etc. for it to come out good. When they tape up against lights and moldings espacially, its never perfect, so they sometimes might overlap onto the old paint, and leave tiny strips unpainted. Hard to explain, but in the long run, paint will start to chip off. Nice color and flakes.

in the picture is only the first coat of red over the primer. they still need another coat of red and 3 more clear coats. i have 6 Year warranty on the paint job and i've seen some of the cars that were paited there and they look great.

Damn, that would make most body men/painters cringe to see what their doing to your Z....

1)Ok, so you had one day to find a shop...... Did you only have time to call one shop up for an estimate???
2)If you've got new bumpers.... They should have painted them seperatly, then have installed them....
3)If your doing the above, taking the lights, emblem off isnt a big deal labour wise...

Sorry to say the above, next time, I'm sure you'll know better.... Hopefully, it will look ok, and will last for more than 9months to a year

Oh no! Not Maaco! Did you have a Caliber Collision Center? I heard they offer a Lifetime Warranty. I have no idea how good they are though...

Doubt it. Every maaco paint job I've seen starts to fade and peel after about a year.

Wow, how can anyone recommend MAACO. I bet you, your insurance must have loved that choice.

Make sure you look at every crease and every edge to make sure the paint is nice an smooth and you have no overspray or missing paint. If not make sure you have them fix it to your liking. Good luck.

In fact, just keep bugging your insurance that there's imperfections, then suggest that maybe you should go to a different shop. Like I suggested earlier on, ask people in the Seattle or Northwest section for recommendations. I think that even though one side of your car was damaged, you may not have had to paint EVERYTHING. Anyways, good luck with that.

i've never seen that many body shop by my area. they are all these little places that have one garage and look crappy. my car was at a tow yard. and geico was like if you dont tell us by 7am the next morning, it wont be towed to the body shop you chose and your car will stay at the yard and you will pay the over $100 overnight fee. alot of them are owned by geico and i didn't want those places working on my car since they are not going to paint the right door and would of gotten the same rims back. and i am financing my car so the paint job has to last until i fully own my car. i hope it comes out good...

Sorry your last resort was Maaco. Please post pics of the finish, I'd love to see. I hate when people come in and compare my price to Maaco's.

Person: How much to paint over my Neon black?(Has rust everywhere)
Me: $2500
Person: $2500?!?! Maaco's said they would do it for $200.

Very annoying. Good luck btw.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh whats the name of that body shop so i never take my car there. the light should be out. the bumpers should be off. did they spray the door jams or are they gonna be faded????? is this an insurance job or did you pay for it? OH NO i just read the dreadful words..........MAACO.

WOW. make sure to inspect the car from top to bottom. DO NOT pick up/inspect the car in the rain. make sure it is sunny. check the headlights and tails for overspray. check all glass surfaces for overspray. check for visable tape lines, you should not see any. if ANYTHING is not how you like it, DO NOT TAKE DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE. point out any problems you see and have them fixed before you take delivery. i have a good feeling your muffler will be half red on the bottom half. most of the time their paint jobs suck *** because of the prep work. also be sure to inspect the paint for trash and runs in the clear coat. the hood on my car was resprayed and there are two runs where the cowl starts at the front of the hood. make sure to document anything you find with the body shop. i hope you dont have any problems, but i have never ever ever ever seen anything good about a place that advertises $250 paint jobs. i just noticed you hood is cracked open. the seal around the front is most likely red and you r motor might have a fine misting of red on it too. i wouldn't let those guys paint a fence for me. good luck!!!!

Well looks like you have some good news, and some bad news. Bad news is, you took it to Maacos, hope all goes well. Good news is, you just saved a ton of money on your car insurance. Always look at the bright side.
