As long as the engine does not knock under normal engine operation or when the motor is warm you should be fine.

I'm not sure what it is but mine does it too. When it's really cold it's a bit loud on startup, but it's brief and goes away quickly... I wouldn't worry about it. My engine has been running strong for almost 2 years now, and it's always done that when it's super cold out. A few weeks ago it got down to 5 degrees... Just make sure you warm your engine up slowly and you are golden.

Stop complaining! You're getting the most BANG for your buck!
Dont worry. your engine is dry as a bone. thats all. if it keeps knocking, then you have a problem. Every single chevy engine knocks on startup even in the summertime and that is considered acceptable.
hey you just proved the theory of gravity!!!!!!!!
hahahah jk. the oil is draining out of the top of the motor and to the pan. any car will do this. drive as normal. if you watch the oil pressure gauge and it never moves, AND you have a knocking sound.......you have problems.

Mine has done it lately when it's been really cold. Just due to the oil draining out of the engine during the night, and the oil pump initially not being able to pump oil instantaneously to the engine for that slight second.
