Default Warranty Question

I jsut hit 39,000 miles on my Z and you know what that means .. no warranty ... well of course since my warranty is up something has to break. My power steering went out on the car as its tuff to turn the car in a parking spot or when gong around turns at low speed. Its also making a whining sound.

So my question to everyone is ... any chance this is covered under the power train warranty? ... it is mounted to the motor ...LOL

or anyone have any other tips on how I should talk to the dealer? I know with my old IS300 they covered my seat when I had a similar situtation becuase it was close the warranty period ... I know it will be a cold day in hell before nissan dose that.

Some dealers are very good at doing the work, even if she's sightly out of warrenty.... good luck, Infinity replaced my WHOLE rack and pinon (sic) no questions asked.... (I was 5000kms (2300miles for you Yanks) over the warrenty...

depends.... if the nissan dealer you take it to is cool, then they will probably do it under goodwill... if one dealer doesnt do it, then go to another. theres gotta be at least 5-6 dealers within a 20 mile radius from your house

You have a point. The power train warranty covers the engine, and the power steer unit is mounted to the engine, so therefore the power steering should be covered.

Thats what I thought!

My friend said I should say that to them.... The guy that is my service guy at Desert Nissan here in Vegas is a dick. He is already mad that he fixed some stuff on my Z when the in service date was over 3 years and he did under warranty becuase he for got to check the inservice date... I told him that it was his problem becuase he tried to call me back after I picked up the car and get me to pay for it. Now hes out to get me on it .. I'm waiting on the quote ... if its real high i'll take it to another dealer.
