Default Very strange problem in my Z, traction goes off

I was driving on the highway once and i had to sort of stop short because someone infront of me did the same. I noticed that the "vdc off", "slip", and "brake" lights all came on!!! I pulled into a gas station and there was some ice on the floor so i wanted to see if my vdc really just went off or perhaps it was just a fuse/ligh problem. My vdc really was off!!! I turned the car off and on and the problem was fixed. This happened to me again since this, once when breaking hard and once when accelerating hard.
Has this happened to anyone?

Check your brake fluid to make sure it's not low. Other than that, a couple of people reporting similar problems have brought it in to the dealer who eventually determined that the computer was whacked and replaced it.

Yeah, sounds like there is a fault in the sustem. It is designed to shut down completely if it malfunctions. Does your ABS still work ok?

that sounds like some sort of computer issue, possible bad connection with the battery. the only time i have seen that type of thing is when a vehicle i was driving had a battery that died while i was driving. I've heard that when something in the system malfunctions all of those prominent warning lights appear and the vehicle goes into a "safe mode" of sorts or simple shuts down... I would have a dealer check it out just in case...

How many miles on your Z? I am 99% certain it just needs new brake pads.

Chances are if your brake fluid is low you need new pads. There is no reason to add fluid unless you have a leak. If you have to add fluid make sure when you have your brakes done they remove some fluid before they push the pistons back in the calipers. I say this because brake fluid will spill all over by the master cylinder. Brake fluid is a great paint remover if lefton to long. Most dealers won't clean it like you would.
