Odd comment above. When did the '03 Enthusiast ever weigh 3100 lbs? The 2003 Z had a curb weight of 3322 lbs - C&D, 2002 and other reviews. From the Nissan website the 2006 Enthusiast weighs 3346 lbs, a gain of just 24 lbs in four model years. This is what additional sound deading material, etc. would weigh, not some fantasy 300 lbs....

guess Nissan finally got tired of all the press stating the Z's "Cabin is a bit noisey, wind noise is terrible during highway crusing..." so they upped the sound deadening. Enthusiasts will have to suffer from geezers who want to buy "quiet, luxury sports cars"... sorta defeats the purpose of "sport" lol, ah well!

Yeah..according to the Nissan website ...the 2003 base Z weighs about 3185lbs while a 2006 base Z weighs in at about 3,339.

That's about 150lbs of "what the hell did they add??"

For the weight conscious comparing yr across different trims:
A 2003 base Z:3,185
A 2003 Grand Touring Z: 3,404

That's 219 lbs. Almost like having another fatass or muscle-bound dude in your car at all times.

Sounds familiar...

About a year ago, I bought an '05 and my husband bought an '03. He traded the his in on an '06 STi. We only kept it for a couple of months and now we have an '06 Z. I have to agree with you, the Z feels like a luxury car compared to the STi. I hated driving around in that thing for the past couple of weeks until our new Z arrived!

Only way (weigh) IMO is an 03 Enthusiast, if you're looking for the lightest car available.

Don't forget bigger brakes and wheels. That could easily weigh some 80-90 lbs more, which would add up to the 150 lbs with the sound deadening material.

Its engine size is smaller than 350Z and has a higher redline that explains the higher HP. The torque is not all that great, but has good gearing to match that.

The few comparison tests that have been done to date don't support this. I would add that it didn't really didn't feel different to me at least. YMMV.

Proof that the enthusiasts weighed under 3200 lbs. And the C & D thing you read probably was the weight with the DRIVER in the car. Where as now if you put a driver in the car the weight will be 3600 lbs ( in my case since im 200 lbs)

The 2003 models weighed between 3188-3246lbs depending on the trim level. You can find all the weights at www.edmunds.com.
