2006 350z an even fatter pig ? (3400 lbs)
Odd comment above. When did the '03 Enthusiast ever weigh 3100 lbs? The 2003 Z had a curb weight of 3322 lbs - C&D, 2002 and other reviews. From the Nissan website the 2006 Enthusiast weighs 3346 lbs, a gain of just 24 lbs in four model years. This is what additional sound deading material, etc. would weigh, not some fantasy 300 lbs....
guess Nissan finally got tired of all the press stating the Z's "Cabin is a bit noisey, wind noise is terrible during highway crusing..." so they upped the sound deadening. Enthusiasts will have to suffer from geezers who want to buy "quiet, luxury sports cars"... sorta defeats the purpose of "sport" lol, ah well!

That's about 150lbs of "what the hell did they add??"
For the weight conscious comparing yr across different trims:
A 2003 base Z:3,185
A 2003 Grand Touring Z: 3,404
That's 219 lbs. Almost like having another fatass or muscle-bound dude in your car at all times.
best thing i did was 75 sq ft of insulation in the boot, cant hear rain spray or stone flick ups at all now
but theres no getting around how loud and coarse those stock bridgestones are over rough surfaces

Sooo much quieter than the STI and sooo much smoother a ride. I think I have come full circle, I may actually trade in the STI and get a 06 350 Z auto!
About a year ago, I bought an '05 and my husband bought an '03. He traded the his in on an '06 STi. We only kept it for a couple of months and now we have an '06 Z.
I have to agree with you, the Z feels like a luxury car compared to the STi. I hated driving around in that thing for the past couple of weeks until our new Z arrived!

The few comparison tests that have been done to date don't support this. I would add that it didn't really didn't feel different to me at least. YMMV.
