thieves?
#21
it has been a long time since any of my stuff has been stolen. i try to hide all my audio stuff now or make it very hard for someone to take it. hate to say but it has been so long since i have had a problem i am more relaxed about it. my car is almost always inside at night though. guess i should do more security on my Z too. i have had a show truck stolen, 2 different competition stereos, and 2 key jobs.

Do you guys think with the extent of the damage, ie, broken windows, bent trunk lid, and broken interior panels. Should i take the car to the dealer to let them fix everything. or should i take it to a body shop?

Call the police and report the incident (you will be asked for a copy of the police report)
Call your insurance company and report the incident. Provide them with a copy of the above mentioned police report if requested.
Take it to a body shop and have them provide you with an estimate to repair the damage. Doesnt matter if you take it to a dealer or a body shop (there isnt really a huge market for non OEM interior parts, but a dealer labor rate will definatley lower the amount of money spent on parts.
Send the estimate of damage to the insurance company.
Generate a cost of replacement list, the insurance company will only pay you for the current replacement value of an item removed from your car. A five hundred dollar radio purchased 2 years ago will not be covered for five hundred dollars, be reasonable and you wont have too many arguements (dont forget to report the bag of Christmas Items also) Once the insurance company has the estimate of the damage plus your claim for the stolen equipment they will make a judgement as to how much they will reimburse you.
