Question Want to know Z's reliability & durability?

All you Z owners, please tell your mileage, reliability &
durability of your Z as "daily transportation".
I like to get one as a spring and summer car, and will have
to use it as daily transportation, not a a weekend car.
I heard about minor complaints but would like to see a show
of hands that this is indeed a reliable car. I will have to drive
350 miles to get one, drive it home and use it about 6 months/
yr as daily transport. Thanks.

2200miles, only problem was the bose fix. no tire problems as of yet, no other instances to speak of at this point.

Most likely, Nissan reliability balanced out by 1st year run.

4400 miles in just less than 4 months. I too, had the Bose amp replaced and I'm 100% satisfied.. No other problems to report except I had to have the rear hatch tinted because of the glare off the shock cross brace. Just wish we had a little less snow so I could drive it more..

1800 miles in four months no problems, other than having rattle in hatch rear brake light fixed and ripped rubber seal under the hood replaced, all under warranty.

I use my Z as daily transport; about 70 miles/day since late October. I just past 5K miles. While I have two concerns, which have been discussed in great length on this forum. 1) My front tires are wearing unevenly in the front; 2) the transmission is quite "notchy", especially on the 1=>2 shift, and when it is cold.
I'm hoping an alignment job will take care of #1. Clearly, a commuter car must get more than 10K miles from a $1K set of tires... If not, I will be forced to sell the car.
#2 may be more serious, or it may not be. I will give synthetic gear lube a try to see if it smoothes things out. If not, I will be worried.
If/when those two issues get cleared up, it will be an awesome every-day car.

1. Mileage: 6800 mi. since September 22, 2002.
2. Reliability: Reliable. No problem yet.
3. Durability: Cosmetic - small paint chip, driverside door. Scratches in rear from banker box cart, driverside door scuff from bad habit of using left foot to open open. No major durability issues.
4. Usage: Daily commute up canyon roads and highways.

Here is a thread with my answer, along with quite a few others:

Mwaller,
I also use my Z as a daily drive, with about 80 miles/day. Tire wear has been very even so far (with 2 AutoX's, things still look very good) so I strongly believe that your problem can be fixed.

D'oh - good to hear. I really hope everything can be resolved quickly. All in all, I really love this car.
