Listen brother,.... I watch (and used to run my 01' very moded 2.5 RS in Rally du Quebec) WRC and F1 for the most part.... Heck watching guys going around in left circuits bores the crappers out of me.... YET, I can see skill involved in Oval racing...... And therefore respect it....

Drifting might not be your "thing" but you have to admit thats there is much skill involved in doing so consistantly without blowing out, or worse crashing....

If your a WRC guy, such as I....

You must certainly appriciate drifts, heck they are an intregal part of rally racing, but not so in autocrossing or F1 inorder to achive the fasted time on "type" of tarmac.......

Give credit when its deserved regadless of what your prefferences are

Edge, to be honest, drifting requires more skill then drag racing...I drag race my Supra, and drift my 240sx...both are sports yes, drag racing being more mainstream...and as stated above you have to respect it! I hate golf but doesnt change the fact that its one of the toughest sports there is!

go back to page 3 and read a few of my posts i respect the skill involved in all forms of competition. If you want to call the slides in rallying drifting, at least they have a purpose. The whole "sport" of drifting doesnt have a purpose other than to please crowds.

i've always considered drag racing to be the lowest form of racing. The only reason i do it is because its cheap and entertaining. Like i said, i'm about to get into autox and learn how ****ty of a driver i really am.

to see who can get around a track or a stage the fastest. Also to see who is the best driver and who has the best car. To me f1 and wrc are the pinnacle of motorsports.

yes that is the point of both sports..
ok well the point of drifting is to see who has the best technique, who can get around the fastest with the most style, and as stated before tandem drifting, all based on a point system, yes its judging but its style and technique and skill...just because style is involved doesnt mean its a bogus sport...and yes alot of the sport is based on pleasing crowds, but without crowd pleasing in ANY sport...the sport will never survive, drifters and the venues must be doing something right because the growing popularity of drifting is insane!

i still fail to see the point, and no matter how popular it gets i'll never bother to watch or participate in it.

i'm not close minded, i've seen hours of drifting vids on the net and im not impressed by it. Its just one of those things i dont like and i like to laugh at ricers for attempting it and crashing.

+1 you got a good point. I love drifting, but you point is actually true. Drifting required lots of skill and practice to do a good drift. Anyway, drifting is really more of a performance show rather than racing.

I thought this was a rehtorical question. Since I thought the obvious answer is to test new technology/material. The VTEC technology in the honda street car was first tested on the F1 Honda cars. And I'm sure lots of technolgy and material tested and proven on F1 and WRC does trickle down to the street cars. Am I the only one alone on this thinking?
