Default Help! Smashed Front End. Opinions Needed!

What's up guys/girls,

Today I'm heading back from lunch and everything is going perfectly fine then CRASH SLAM SCREECH! I didn't clear the curb completely so the right side of the Z's front spoiler is cracked and scratched to ****. Should I go through my insurance for repairs or take the hit myself. Should I get the whole body kit instead of just a front spoiler. Does insurance cover all that? What is my best plan of action for getting this repaired ASAP cause it looks awful, and it hurts me to see the Z looking like this. Any other Z'ers have this happen to them. I really don't know what is the best thing to do. Any ideas?

You pay insurance premiums - file a claim. Do I understand that you want your insurance to buy you a body kit which was NOT damaged in the accident?

No I heard of people doing that. I would be happy just to get my front spolier fixed. Actually I just called Geico and if I file a claim. My insurance is going up if I file and it cost more than 750. I'm gonna get screwed.

if it is a minor thing I would not file a claim.

just do the math.. 750 - your deductable = $X....

is $X worth filing a claim and making your premium go up?

Well I already filed the claim, does that count as an accident on my record?

I misunderstood your original post. Check on the cost of a fix. If the cost is LESS than your deductible, no point in filing a claim (anyway if you did the claim would be canceled).

Only if the insurance company pays out money.

Awesome info, thanks! I knew about the deductible and adding it all up I was just misinformed on the facts. I thought only accidents with other people go on your record and cause premium increases. I am heading to body shop after work given to me by a trusted co-worker for a quote. I will keep you up on details...

If you're driving and you hit something like you did, this would go under a "collision" claim with your insurance company. Now if someone vandalized your car (for example), this would affect your "comprehensive" insurance. Your deductible may be different on each. You could make something up so this will go as a comprehensive claim... but I guess it's too late since you already filed a claim. I think collision claims affect your insurance premiums more, but I may be wrong. Anyone care to clarify?
