Lsd
hey, Just wondering if there is a way to tell if my car has lsd on it just by looking underneath. Does anyone have pics of what it should look like? I have a base model, but the dealer kept insisting that it has lsd on it. I know that the base by default doesn't have it, so I was just wondering if I could look and see.
Thanks.
Thanks.
do a burnout and see if it leaves 2 marks...open it up going around a turn and see if the innerwheel burns out. If the car shifts then both wheels are turning and its not an open differential. hope that helps. im not sure if it is possible to tell by just looking at it.
Can't tell by looking at it unless the diff housing was changed to the nismo heat soak diff housing. A safer way to do what Escobar said is to just take a turn in gear, and then while in the turn, press the clutch. You should feel you rear swing out but it won't break loose because you're not gunning it.
Put a piece of the car in your mouth and suck on it for a minute. If, in about 10-15 minutes you start seeing all sorts of colors and crazy ****, you can be confident that your car has LSD all over it. At that point, I recommend that you start selling parts of your car to dealers in your area and marketing your car as the hot new "it" drug of 2006.
well, I did lick it, and woke up to find tangerine trees, and marmalde skies, so I don't know what was going on.
I was thinking about the burnout thing, but I didn't know if there was a visual difference or not.

Well you have an '06 base so you probably don't have an LSD. I doubt the dealer would install one.
Depending on traction, a burnout without a LSD can leave two tire marks at times. Taking a decently tight, 2nd gear turn with a good amount of throttle should let you know if you have a limited slip or not.
I had a '05 base and now have a '06 track. The biggest difference other than the engine is the LSD. Makes the car much more fun to drive IMO.

I looked at the sticker, and it says nothing. I guess the dealer doesn't know what he is talking about. This one just feels more stable than my 03 did, that is why I was wondering.
if the dealer claimed the car had it, used it as a selling point and it was something I expected, then I'd make them eat their words by either buying back the car or giving me a straight up trade for an enthusiast.
