Hi all. I am about to purchase a 2004z Enthusiast. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what are the stock tires that comes with it. And if they are summer tires (pretty sure they are, but i dont know anything about tires)


Would greatly appreciate it. I used the seach tool buy nothing came up. Thanks

 

Before you get flamed to a crisp by the other members, the stock tires are Potenzas (size depends on the model you purchased) and yes they are summer and yes if you value your car or your life you should upgrade to an all season radial for better handling in colder temps.

 

If you buying a 2004 350Z there is no telling what tires are on the car. BTW why are you concerned?

 

They are Bridgestone Potenza RE040's summer tires. 220 treadwear. Many dont like them, I did, nice stiff sidewalls and decent in the rain. Even with the low treadwear they lasted me 20K miles of very spirited driving. BTW I ran these through the winter they were fine, just had to take it easy in the snow lol....

 

thanks. Why i ask is becuase in a few hours I will be picking up a 2004 Enthusiast Coupe with 15k miles on it.

Time to get flamed. This will be my only car and I will need to commute with it daily in every weather condition. I am trying to figure out which tires to put on it. I was leaning towards winters for now, however it was mentioned the stock tires last till 20k miles. So when summer comes along that another 500+ bucks.


If anyone can give me their opinion on what to do with tires. Should I go Winter or all season. And which brand should i get. I went to tirerack and they only have 2 brands of tires for the winter. I am about to check for all season.

If you can afford the extra cash, the best All Season tires I have run are the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I ran these on my 01 330i and they were great. I drove that car hard and those tires never let up dry or wet. They also did fairly well on ice in NC. The treadwear is 400 on those and after about 20,000 they did not have bad wear at all, very even. I was running 245/40-17 on that car. They are more expensive, but they have great grip, good treadwear and are pretty quiet.

 

Tough choice. If the 350Z is a daily driver, and you have no alterative transportation when it snows, I recommend 4 snow tires.

Which winter tires are good to get. And where to buy them. Tire rack has nothing good i think, but i can get crappy rims for 83 bucks a pop and they delivered ready to install by urself

 

I agree, plus they are pretty good dry weather tires as well. But, they do cost a tad more than most. If you are only looking for winter tires on other wheels look at the BFG Traction T/A. Pretty good rating at a cheap price, if you need to keep the price down. I am running those on my winter beater and love the S#!t out of them.

Get a nice set of all seasons for winter daily commute

You know I bought the Kumho ASX all season tires and I am pushing alot of hp around with my TT and they grip really well in the wet weather here in VA.

 

I have had no probs. with the stock re040's in the spring/summer, they are actually an excellent tire for those conditions (dry/hot). However, traction is greatly compromised in colder temperatures plus the traction isn't made to grip in the snow. I would recommend getting snow tires if you plan on getting caught in the snow...ever. I have heard good things about the Dunlop Sport snows (I don't drive mine in the winter). Just be glad that you got the Enthusiast model and not the Performance. The enthusiast has 225/50/17 and 235/50/17 which are much cheaper than the 18"'s found on the other models.

 

The G35 has RE50's i think.. All i know is that they suck... does'nt matter what site and what review they dont' compare to other tiers that are half the price.. i don't know why nissan pick those tires.. if they would have picked something a bit better.. hell it'll get better reviews which in the end - more cars being sold.

 

From other members... I also heard some great compliments on the Bridgestone Blizzak's LM-22 not the WS-50. Invest in a tire that will last several seasons +. The WS-50 is the cheaper tire but the slica top blocks once worn it's just another seasonal tire. I would highly recommend the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 especially since you live in Jersey!

I currently have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my car. Considering their treadwear, they grip rather well. I went to Deal's Gap with these and I kept up fairly well in the turns. I completely trust them in the rain as well since they always kept me stable at highway speeds. I've never had them in the snow yet though, so I can't tell you anything about that aspect. BTW, I have an 03 Enthusiast w/ stock rims.

 

Blizzaks are the hot ticket for snow driving per a large number of members on here.

I've yet to see a post not praising them.
