That seems ridiculous to me that a customer would even have to mention that his/her car was collision free to the advisors when customers bring it in for service. Dealers should be responsible about taking care of the customer's property when they entrust the dealer with it. If the advisor did not do the walk around themselves to declare damage if any, thats the dealer's negligence...not the customer's. Oh and btw, its great that the guy's at performance took the time to investigate and review the surveillance....I wasn't even offered any type of acknowledgement or investigation in terms of the damage. They straight just denied it and claimed that it was already there and that I was the one trying to rip them off, "Making up things" as they put it...insulting my integrity by suggesting that i was trying to pull a scam or something. I'm very aware that you can address warranty issues at any Nissan dealer Jason. And I understand that you stand up for Nissan, like i said before , i had been very satisfied with the service the previous 2 times that I brought my car in, that's why i came back. The service advisor at that time really took good care of me. Just this time I encountered some real a-holes. Customer satisfaction is probably every company's priority, im sure...but there's always exceptions to the rule
Im not saying its your fault at all...

all im saying is to make sure they fill out that form...

if they miss something, by all means show it to them when you get your car back and they should fix it if it doesnt appear on the paper...

example...

I know my customers cars, I see them before they come in etc... I know where to look for scratches on rims etc...

The service writer did not mark down that one of the front rims was scratched, I dont even think the customer knew, I was talking to the customer as the service advisor was checking in his car... I thought he marked it down and saw it, but he didnt... They ended up buying him a new rim...

You can use that form to your advantage as well if they miss something...

I am sure they scratched your car doing those repairs, it happens all the time when tech's are sloppy... and the dealer should definatly fix it for you...

I pick up my car and thats when i noticed a big dent and scratch that started on the front right side the bumper and denting into the panel section! I address them of the issue and the first thing that came out of their mouth was..."See the manager on Tuesday" WTF? Then I talk to the actual service advisor that took in my baby and he claims that it was already there when i brought her in. Then he accuses me of trying to get them to pay for something they didn't do. Im at the dealer and next thing you know there are 2 service advisors screaming and yelling at me saying that there were at least 4 witnesses that said that the big dent was already there. I was in disbelief. I had never been faced with such un-professionalism. Yelling at the customer? Then all the service techs came out and started pointing at my car and mumbling something like the dent was already there. I then asked the service advisor to just put something in writing that acknowledged the fact that i had addressed the dent issue. He then starts getting really nasty all in my face and says he's not putting "****" in writing for me and i'd have to come and talk to the manager after new year. I've never had such a bad experience. They would have declared the dent before they took in my car if it was really already there. I don't understand why its such a big deal and why they'd have to do that and deny it. NNA does have insurance for these things right? I'll just come back after the new year and talk to the manager and see what happens. And if still not resolved, i'll have to take care of it through my insurance and let the insurance deal with nissan. Bad luck at the end of the year for me. Damn. Im still in disbelief that they'd have the audacity to say that the dent was already there.

Wow, and they expeted you to be cool with that kind of damage? How would they not notice it if you dropped it off like that? You have a strong right to be pissed!

Then you are on your own...

You could always go to the extreem of taking pictures of the car with a time stamp...

But, im sure there is someone on the lot who you can ask to write down the condition of the car, sign it with their name printed and put in the drop box with the keys...

I wont leave my car unless it is signed in, even at my dealer where I work!

Ricepeck,

It happened to me a while back too.

https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-nissan-350z/86670-perf-nissan-messed-up-my-bumper.html

Talk to the right person and they will take care of you. I was lucky that I caught it in the lot too.

Only hassle is that I didn't drive my Z for a week when they were repairing it. **** like this happens I guess.

I still buy parts there, but I just do my own services since then (hehe).

Tony

first off..thanks for clarifying some things Jason, sorry if I mis-interpreted you... and yeah, it would have been common sense for the service guys to bring it to their attention and mine as well if there was something so obvious as that scratch/dent. If it was already there, would could miss it right? Its ridiculous how they are trying to play dumb. I dont get it.

Like everyone says, ask for the walkaround sheet. Hopefully they haven't doctored it up after-the-fact.
if you didn't ask for the walkaround sheet once you confronted them about it.. I am sure they have played with the papers now!
if I were you, I'd have asked for the walkaround sheet immediately and kept it with me.

it happened to me once in MB, I had one of the taillight scratched deeply and the guy acted dump and said it was already there! I asked him for the walkaround sheet and then he started to back off! but I knew if I wanted to get a new taillight I could but the hassle was more than it was worth it and it wasn't really clear so I just told him I will forget it because I wanted to! he just kept his mouth shut after it.

but in your case, the damage is really bad.. I would have made it to Nissan managment in the region , if not Japan itself, and make this dealer feel sorry about it.

Go check the paperwork. Before they take your car in for service they must do a mandatory walk around and check of any prior dents/scratches/etc for insurance purposes. A diagram of a car should be on your work order. Check the original and duplicate to see if there are any differences. They might have added in a circle after you left. If they didn't put anything, then it is their fault for not doing so and you are entitled to make any claim.

thanks for all your input so far guys, but guess what? just got off the phone with the service manager and he brushed me off and gave me the third degree. He says everyone said i came in cussing and swearing. My goodness! the politics that go on at these places, everyone covering for each other on all angles. He even said that everyone that saw the dent saw rust on the dent and that it was old. Wtf? The manager has not even seen the dent himself yet. He says that i need to get my lawyer so that my lawyer can talk to their lawyer. He then says that he has nothing more to say to me and that our conversation is done. Then he said have a nice day and hung up without even letting me say anything. I call back and am put on hold for a while, then finally i reach him again and i ask about the walkaround sheet. He replies," I don't know, where is it?" I was awestruck, he then started to rant about how four people witnessed the dent already and that it had rust...IT DOESNT EVEN HAVE RUST!!! despite the rain as you guys can see in the pix. He said again to get my lawyer to talk to their lawyer. I asked him how do i get a hold of their lawyer? He replies find him yourself....then he hung up. Fookin A-hole. Man i've never been pissed like this for a while. I had mentioned to the service advisors previously that I consulted my relative who was an attorney and he had given me advice, and now they're saying because i had consulted a lawyer so that cant talk to me about anything, go get my lawyer. I wanna call NNA right now but they're closed. What do you guys think NNA will do for me? What are my options?

Someone at the dealership would've pointed out the damage on the Z the first time they did a walk around. If they didn't...its on THEM.
But you need your own original copy of that walk around paper.

OMG, im not gonna say i would do anything about it myself, but if someone like my father heard about this(which would be the first person i would tell), they would need a few ambulances at that dealership because there are people in this world that dont take that kind of ****, i wish i was one, thats why as long as my dad is still there for me, im gonna call him.

if i were you i would have been up there in a heart beat on someones ***, there is no sense in that at all. i hope they rot in hell

(btw, im not that young that i have to get my dad to do things like that for me, he just has a REALLY good way of getting across to people if you know what i mean)
