Default Production numbers per year

Does anyone know where to find the number of cars produced per year for particular models? (There's gotta be a web site)

I want to compare the 35,000/yr for the 350Z to cars like S2000, M3, Miata, Boxster, etc. Just to get an idea of how common the new Z will be on the roads.

Thanks!

-Steve

is 35,000 worldwide?

I couldn't imagine 35,000 Z's a year coming to the states. Yet if it's worldwide...let's assume the U.S. is 50% or more of Nissan's market. That would make the yearly Z production stateside at 15,000 +.

I wish they would stop production after one year. That way or cars would be in HUGE demand

DVlad, we can only dream...

Brackethead, this info would be VERY interesting. I was trying to look for this data as well.. and came across a site once that showed the number of S2000's sold in the US per year... But I forget where.... It was less than 10,000 though...

zgirl, dvlad-

I don't know where I heard 35,000/yr. That could be a bogus number, but it's what I was led to believe somehow. But it would be nice to know how many Miatas (for example) are sent to the States each year for comparison to the new Z.

What are US production numbers for the 240/280/300Z? That's got to be on one of these Z-car sites!

Only places I've seen production numbers are in financial reports on some automakers web sites (only for the period covered by the report) and in euthusiast books that are dedicated to a specific vehicle.

Production numbers for S2000 coming into the USA.

Model year 2000 - 9100

Model year 2001 - 9700

Based on dealer allocations when I was looking for an S2000 when they first came out - by local dealer size the 350Z pre-order numbers are about the same as the S2000 yearly numbers were.

From this you can ball park that the 350Z numbers would be 4 times the S2000 so maybe 35,000 to the USA market isn't that far off.

Default My Dealer Answer

Well when I preordered my car two weeks ago the dealer told me that 60,000 were being produced World-Wide. He said to relate that to the other cars Nissan makes in a year, that they are going to make 200,000 Sentras this next year.

Take it or leave it. Dealers have not been known to be to accurate during this process, however the dealer told me this the day after the Atlanta Auto Show and he had the opportunity to see the Z and talk with the people taking it around the country.

I don't know how many 350z's will be made, but someone asked about the miata. The miata recently made the record books as the best selling sportscar - over 600,000 made world wide since its introduction in 1989. Interestingly they are on track for about 18,000 units sold this year on the US. Based on that, I don't think Nissan will be making 30,000 of the z's a year...

Default goal tosurpass the Vette

I have heard that the goal of Nissan is to surpass the "Vette in production /year. What is the "Vette's number per/year? My guess around 32,000 units. So 35,000 would surpass that !

Here is what I found on older Z cars up to 1979. With all of the other car makers in the US market today Im sure that it is lower but I am interested to see what the production or sales numbers are for the 350Z.

Annual U.S. sales:

YEAR RETAIL VOLUME

1970 9,977
1971 26,733
1972 46,537
1973 52,556
1974 45,160
1975 50,213
1976 54,838
1977 69,516
1978 64,459
1979 71,983

Zs sell at the rate of roughly 30,000 per year in US.

This year Nissan has sold 21,325 Zzzzs thru 9-30-05. Project that out & it approaches 30,000 annually.

Zzzs are produced at about same rate as vettes. 30,000 ain't much in auto world. Cars like the Altima, Accord are produced at about 200,000 per year.

Hey that OK with me. In a couple of years I'll buy one for cheap, paint it forest green, S/C it and use it to play "Bullitt" in SF.

I checked several Nissan Annual Reports, but my efforts were fruitless.
