Yeah it is definitelty the best $120 you can spend on the Z and probably why its the only mod i have on it. I just cant justify spending another $2000 for exhausts, plenums, pullies etc to maybe 15 HP to the wheels at best.

The stock exhaust sounds amazing IMO. Get the Nismo exhaust and you basically amplify that sound and add some ballz.

Yes, that's the drawback of having a car with N/A engine.
It's expensive and hard to extract power unless you go F/I.
But since you're looking to regain the sound you supposedly 'lost',
I think your best bet is NISMO exhaust. I say it's worth the $1,000.
Stock Zs sound puny compared to my car with NISMO exhaust lol

...a perfect car..... I can't say I'm with you on that. I love mine, but it's far from perfect. I'm going the cheap route and adding test pipes, pop charger and plenum spacer for my first performance mods. It sounds good stock, but I want it a little louder.

sorry man, but your in the wrong place if you don't want to hear about guys modding their Z's. maybe you should still to your off-topic boards. I'd say the Z is far from perfect stock by most folks opinions. and when you refer to "you dopes", are you referring to all of us with modications to our Z's?

A K&N drop in filter is all you need because the intake is outside the engine bay where it gets cool air. You won't risk getting water in your intake like a CAI will do.

That's why I changed my exhaust after my popcharger, plenum spacer and test pipes. It got too raspy, so I put on a resonator/muffler and then two independent mufflers. Sounds like a race car version of the stock car now, . I love it. Nothing but compliments. Even from my buddy with the 600 WHP Mustang Cobra who hates imports. He said it was "the best sounding import" he's ever heard.

I remember I couldn't hear my Z's exhaust growl when I had feathered tires.

Now that I put brand new tires on the car, I can hear the exhuast growl 10X better.

Borla TD sounds fantastic. Stock-ish, but still with some growl down low. I love mine, I drive around with the stereo off half the time just to listen to my engine.

If you can only do 1 mod, buy the Nismo exhaust...
