Default The Sound of the 350Z

I have about 15k miles on my '05 z. The exotic exhaust tone when I first bought just isn't there. anymore. I have Plenum spacer and popcharger, and will be putting on some cats, soon - then exhaust. I still like the sound, but not nearly as much as the tone of stock. I like the fact that it's louder, but not 'cleaner' than stock.

Until reading this forum, I had no idea there was such a great interest in sound. I can understand horsepower and torque curves, but all this talk about exotic baffles me.

I love the sound of the stock Z, not to mention the G35.

When you said it doesnt sound the same, that's after mods right?

while stock it always sounded same right?

stock exhaust is very practical...
Intake, headers, test pipes wil increase the sound of the exhaust but if the OEM muffler is still there then it shoudl still resemble the noise

I just installed a Borla exhaust and a JWT PopCharger this past week...and I understand what you're talking about. I liked the stock sound a lot....but I tell ya, having the next exhaust really amplified the sound. It doesn't necessarily sound a lot different now....but it is a lot stronger...and somewhat more gutteral. But I suppose any time you change part of the engine, it's going to change the sound. Guess that's why there are so many exhaust system sound clips out there.

yeah, anything you change having to do with air intake to exhaust escape is going to change the sound. my Z is def way louder, but in a nice way. not too raspy, not too whimpy. whatever the case I think the weight savings are worth it in itself. those damn stock cats and exhaust tubing are frickin ridiculously heavy.
