Default How much more hp does the 350Z need?

The hp war is on. Every manufacture seems to be increasing the hp of their cars. 300hp use to seem like alot of hp but many other cars are exceeding the performance of the 350Z.

I bought my 350Z in 2003 and the market has changed since then. How much hp would it take for the 350Z to be competitive with the newer cars?

I don't think it really needs any given it's price and competition. Being able to take an AWD EVO or STI off the line is about the only thing it lacks.

I dont think its a pure hp number thing... Rather, how that hp gets used, and put to the wheels.

I still think the current Z is great for its handling, hp/tq, and price. To compete, 350hp would be adiquate. I just hope the price doesn't climb to high.

hmmm....What killed the Horsepower (muscle car) War of the 1970s?

What will end the current race to 500 horsepower?

400 rwhp for my z and I'm done with it.. time to move onto the skyline.

Stock Z beats about 90% of the cars on the road. I never even had a chance to step on the throttle in months. HP is more in the mind, cuz in reality, it's already fast enough.

HP must matter to you, otherwise you did not need to mod your Z or buy a skyline right?

A 350hp 350 would do me just fine.

They can do it.

The Z doesn't need more HP, what it needs is a new chasis that is lighter. I would love to have the 350Z wiegh 2,700 to 2,800 pounds instead of having another 30 HP.

You can modify the 350Z to get another 30HP, but it's harder to get the 350Z from 3,200 down to 2,700-2,800 pounds.

It's more of an addiction than feeling an actual 'need' to get more HP, When you really think about it. I want the 'new' skyline, cuz it's got power, but not really sure why

honestly, how many times to you race or drive FAST?

The whole HP war is mostly on paper... I wonder how many new Z06 owners will come close to using only 50% of the cars full potential?

I think the Z would be perfect with 360 rated hp. That'd put it in line with everyone else now.
I remember too when 300 hp was a lot. Now it seems everything has at least that and if you have less than 300 hp than your nothing...

Interesting, a number of you say the hp is fine. My question then is why are many of you modifying your Z's to get more hp (and it cost a lot to get a small amount of hp out our motors) if the hp is fine?

I would like a usable launch control, +25hp and -250 lbs.
