My car included all the bells and whistles, and I've been very happy owning such a "fun-to-drive" toy. But I do have a gripe and I'm looking for answers to what I believe has been a scam pulled by Nissan:

The new 2006 models were initially introduced wearing new 5 spoke wheels with the usual square indentations. They were set back a little so the wheel didn't stick out so much as the 35th anniv. Well, I was driving past the Nissan dealer where I purchased the car the other day, and noticed a "white" 35th anniv. I then realized, "gee they didn't make the 35th in white". I stopped there to look the car over, and what I discovered is that it was a 2006 and they were selling them with the 35th anniv. rims, the most distinctive feature of a car that was supposed to have been designated as a limited edition. Well, so much for "limited". 35th rims go for $730 apiece, and now they appear to be installing them as standard equipment on the 2006's. The 35th rims are now shown in their newer catalogs and also on the Web.

I think this is an insult to 35th owners, and a very deceptive move on the part of Nissan, whether the rims are sold as an option or as standard equipment on the new models. Please tell me what your opinions are about this.

Thanx,

June H

It's not a rip off it's an upgrade. Do you remember when Z base models did not come with H.I.D. and now they all come with H.I.D. ....that is an upgrade my friend. The same with the wheels.

Well I'm not exactly a "chick"....more like an old hen. LOL During an outing in Newport this summer I was designated the ZGCA Mom. This is me in case you see me on the road, hopefully not run over...haha:

There is supposed to be one in Milford. I will find out for sure. The rail guides in the automatics do play havoc with the rims on low profile tires. ahem, I admit that I did learn a lesson the hard way.... I can't wait until it gets warmer...slinky needs a bath really bad.

hand wash your 40K Z...

Things they dont tell you when you bought you super expensive Z...

those wheels finishes come off very easily dont be rough with em...
35th floor mats, Getting that CAN badge of your # run.

Just knowing your slower 350Z cost that much more ... plus you get all the 06 stuff minus the fuss, I personally dont like the revised tails, heads
Plus i was first to have mine, Its paid off, and its modded already, id have to come up with a new liscence plate idea if i had a 06. plus its the same prise as the grand touring, plus if you want you can trade it in as a high mileage 06 hahah see if it works for now ill just work on going FI and and make the new 06s my biatches

I felt the same way about how Nissan dissed the 35th but, not pissed enough not to trade my 35th in for an 06 GTR.

My '06 Enthusiast does not have the rims with the little square indentations. I think those rims are on GT and Track versions w/ the staggered set-up. Could be wrong.

I wish the US 35th's got that plaque or whatever it is that the Canadian ones do. Some kinda number plate or something? Whatever it is it's kinda cool and adds some distinction to the 35th.

If I were a 35th owner, I'd probably find it somewhat upsetting as well. Seems that the unique features of a special/limited model, if successful, often trickle down to the other models eventually as upgrades. If it will sell cars better...

Don't let it bother you. I'd still be happy with a 35th.

uh... no.. have you raced an 06' against a stock 35th? just because something is claimed on paper doesnt make it true.. the tails.. BETTER than previous.. heads.. BETTER than previous.. radio controls on steering wheel.. BETTER. amber strip on headlights on 35th, UGLY.. dont be jealous you own an older Z, alot of kinks have been worked out of the 06's that you and your 35th still have to deal with as well.. 06' is a better car, IMO..
