Default Oh, I hate rattles ....

So, my wife and I are on HWY 80 headed East today going to spend sometime with my stepdad for his 79th b-day. OK, on the way I hear this little rattle as I change lanes over the lane markers. Ah, I figure it's just something in the back. Some junk were taking up. Nah, is it the wife seat belt retractor? Nope ....

OK, so we get there spend the day and start home.

On the way home, I hear the same dang rattle and it's starting to get to me. The car was really quiet except for this stupid little rattle. So, I ask the wife, "Babe, do you hear that rattle?". She know me therefore the first response is "What rattle?" We'll I know she hears it cause she's got supersonic hearing and is always the one saying, "What's that noise."
So, I simply look at her and "Oh, that noise?" me, "Yeah, that right."
I continue, "Is it that selt belt holder behind you?" her "No, maybe it's the dash." Here I go feeling up the dash trying to figure out where this rattle is coming from. For some reason, I'm not really upset, just perplexed this time. It was such a nice day and I don't want to spoil it. So I'm trying to be cool. However, I'm dumbfounded. I give up ...... there it goes again.... darn.

Wife smiling knowing where the sound was coming from the whole time and says, " Maybe it's the sunglasses in the overhead console?" We'll of course I realize that I have been had.

Has this ever happened to you?

I mean if we weren't going down the road at 70mph.

I know exactly what you mean and my gfriend laughs at me when she sees me getting pissed. they seem to have become more of a problem since I install my HFC's, but I guess thats to be expected. I've got one in the rear of the car that only happens for a while when I first start her up, and I've got a new one somewhere in the drivers side dash. its sooooo irratating. I think I'm gonna take some time tomorrow and rip apart all the paneling and then put it back together while making sure everything is nice and tight. that seems to be all you can do, short of taking it to the dealer.

Yep, I had a rattle that eluded me for weeks, until I finally read on here about the damn homelink buttons in the rear-view. Gave the frame of my mirror a gentle squeeze and *poof*, rattle gone. It comes back every now and again, but the squeeze always stops it.

Yep, rattles happen. My car has been for the most part rattle free. The tires are a little loud on some of the roads however, I plan on taking care of that with some Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or Goodyear F1 D3 this next year. The noise from the tires is difinately easy to live with. I can only image what it's going to sound like with the new tires on. I mean great permformance and a quiet cruising car. Normally, those two things don't come together in a sports car.

I was thinking about getting a loud exhaust but have since changed my mind on that. I am thinking a good Y-Pipe and flow through muffler for my car. I have a Pop charger and like the sound of that when I open up the car. Then when I drop back to a criuse it's nice to be able to talk to my wife with the radio on quietly with the windows down as we drive through the mountains etc....

Sooooo glad I bought another Z. Simply loving it ...... again

on the way back from downtown Reno last summer, my 03Z's instrument panel rattled for the first time. It was a loud rattle like your tapping the dash with a pen. Took it to the friendly neighbourhood dealership and asked for the tech who specialized in rattles to work on it. Now the Z is rattle free. Man...i could not stand rattles.

I had my other car repaired at the shop and while coming home I kept hearing clank - ting - ting - ting as if parts were coming off the car. So the next time it happened I stopped and went back and looked around ... and found a Snap-On cresent wrench. I drove the way back and collected the rest of the set.

lucky that you got yourself s set of tools....
one time on the way back from the shop i heard a big rattle whenever the car is coming to a stop.... like a marble rolling underneath the floor board. Took it back to the shop and it was a rock lodged in between one of the plastic shields. Apparently one of the techs took it for a spin on a dirt road and drove the **** out of the Z. i found mud and dirt all over the rear wheel well.

OK, so today I hear another rattle. I'm messing with stuff trying to figure it out. When I finally get to my destination. I turn off the car and I'm sitting there looking for my wallet and I hear the rattle again.

So, this time I look over my shoulder and it's the dang birds mimicking something like another birds call or something. I was taking them to the bird groomer to get his wings clipped, nails and beaks filed.

I just busted out laughing and thought about you guys. Because of yesterdays post I had to let you know. I guess I am just too sensitive lately.

Lol !!!!

It was only the birds .......
