all you can do without tearing into the motor, is intakes (questionable at that) test pipes, exhaust, and tune.

sell the car then. i had intakes, art pipes, tdx2 exhaust, and tune... that right there is $3k. the cost to hp ratio in the Z sucks. only way you are gettin considerable hp is to FI.

i hit 286 whp on my hr, and here is a thread where he did cams, valves, headers, etc and only hit 277

Holy crap everyone was so polite!!! *warm fuzzy feeling*

Yeah OP the HR is fast as all hell. I wish I could open her up more often. Any faster I'd be in real trouble.

Maybe put the 4.08 gear in the rear end.

Well there are certainly faster vehicles like your corvette!

But I am thoroughly impressed with the power AND handling this vehicle has for the price. I swear its like a little exotic car.

Interesting commentary in this thread.

Just yesterday, was PUSHING my car up in the hills with a sport bike with rider in full leathers and kneepads right on my tail. Pushed to limits of road/traffic (and me - on public roads). Still had more power than I could use up there.

I look at it this way, I'm trained, the bike guy had enough confidence in my driving ability to stay *right there* at decidedly more speed than ever necessary and I still got more gears and more power?

Unless you're going to the track (road, drag, whatevs), I'd advise you learn to live with the power you already have. 300+ ponies in a street driven car is more than adequate unless you're a stop light drag racer. In which case.... (Dang it, where's that "bird emoticon" when I need one? )

Mic

Sidenote to Trav.... I didn't say it. No mention of d-school....until just now!! Heh heh.

lol, it never stops does it?

I bought my Z wanting something fast and fun that I didn't have to modify. Now I surely don't "have" to modify but something compels me too = )

it really doesnt, but in my defense the heads are necessary. in the ls7 heads the valve guide wears causing it to rub, eventually breaking the shaft shooting it into the motor trashing it. they never did a recall on them and still an issue on the z28 camaro's. its about a $3400 insurance policy to make sure i dont spend $17k on a new motor

not to mention, no car guy can leave well enough alone.... its an addiction i swear

If you want rawr power, sell the car and get a v8. If you want a drivers car, improve your driving skills. Many times o contemplate selling both my Z, but everytime i drive them, its all new to me again. Honestly, with the money i wasted turboing my Z, i couldve gotten much better car with less headache. But behind the wheels, very few cars have brought me a smile as big as my Z has.

Do i wish it has more get up and go? Obly when i regain my traction. Bottom line is, this isnt. Powerful car, its a car build to be as fast as the driver can drive it. Rarely do i put my build Z to the limit, and my semi stock one is still fun enough for me.

Would i builtmy z again? Hell no. Do i regret it? Not at all.

Long story short, want power, get a dofferent platform to build. Want a car that will only go as fast as the driver can take it, the Z Is the car. This car is plent6 fast enough to get you in trouble on the street
