Here lets get some good drawings here

Here you are side by side with the mustang trying to get you to race

Here we see the mustang punch it to race you and start to lose control

As the mustang over corrects he heads towards you

Here is clipping you and sending you into a spin

It won't be total, I've seen worse accidents where they repair it. They'll pay to fix it.

That's what I was going to say but didn't want to mention anything about that since it relates to Mexican people and didnt want to offend anyone here.

Why did you not chase him down? Did your car not drive? I would have chased him down, beat the **** out of him and then tell the cops he got hurt in the accident.

My friend's S2k got less damage and he's able to total it out. If it screws up the frame in any way, even just a little bit, why keep it? It won't sell.

Hey everyone,

Thanks again for all the kind words!

So far the car is still in the shop and when the insurance guy came out he estimated 11k worth of damage just to the outside and asked the shop to take the body panels apart to see how bad the damage is to the frame and the bumper supports. If I get about 9k more in damage or if the frame is bad then it will be totaled. I should know by the end of this week so ill post and let you know what’s up.

I think that its finally kicking in that my Z is Fd up lol kind of depressing.... The police have not called me so I guess they never found him but I have many Bay Area guys helping and keeping an eye open for that kind of a car. I hope someone sees him!

Anyways Ill post soon and maybe get more pics up of the car in pieces.

$11k of damage isn't enough to total out the Z? They need $9k more ($20k total) ? I would expect insurance companies to total out a car when the damage is around 1/2 the car's value.. so maybe $15k?

I'm also on the look-out for you..

If the car is totaled, would you sell me the seats? I hope they are newer than mine... for some reason, my seats a wearing really fast, but my dash and steering wheel look perfect.

thankfully you r ok. I know that this was not your fault. But it seems that the Z could be dangerous in the rain. Do you think is safe to get a base Z (With out any type of traction control) in FL, where sometimes it rains 2-4 times a week?

This is why cars need 360 degree video recorders! Like a "black" box, they record real-time video up to and including the "event" - at least the previous few minutes worth.

Funny thing happened a few days ago. A black 80's Mustang convertable tried to race me too.(Don't remember if the guy had altezzas) I tried to ignore him but he wouldn't leave me alone. So we pull up to the red light and his little homeboy rolls down the window and ask me to race. I said no. Then the little punk calls me a *****. Thats when I lost it. I jump out of the car and grab is *** by his shirt and pulled him half way out the car. Thats when he starts yelling like a little girl. Only if I had a camera on me the look on his face was priceless. So I asked him what he said and all he did was stutter.LOL

Thread hijack over sorry.

highside107 :
I was told that in order for the car to be totaled the price for the repairs must be 80% of the market value. The market value for a base z with my mileage is about 25k well, that’s what KBB has listed so i guess it needs to be around 20k in damage to total or if there are safety issues with fixing the car.

mavtais:
If its totaled I don’t think I will be able to get the seats out unless I buy it back or unless your in the Bay and are willing to stop by the body shop and swap them out.... The car has to have all part in it I think....

loquitoy2k:
I don’t think that the base Z is bad at all in the rain unless you are being reckless... This is my second winter with the car and I never had anything close to a spinout unless it was caused purposely by me or in this case another car. I truly think that if I had any other car I would have ended up in the same situation. Before the Z I had a WRX and I think I had more close calls in that car then the Z because I knew it was AWD and would be a little stupider in the wet.

zedated:
That’s an awesome idea! lol I know I would pay extra for something like that now that this incident happened!

otrack5:
Did it have red racing stripes?
That’s some funny stuff thou! lol Little punks like that should not be given their drivers licenses! especially when they drive buckets and think that they are cool lol
Man I would love to see your situation happen in person! I would laugh my *** of!

Oh BTW just right now I saw a guy driving down El Camino in MV with four cops chasing him... he had front end damage, both air bags deployed and coolant leaking everywhere! I guess it was a hit and run too because there were cops chasing him and fire trucks going in the opposite direction!
