28 mpg on a decent highway trip, but since I'm all about city driving I only average around 16 mpg.

I have always wondered just how accurate that guage is. I find it hard to belive the Z can really get 34mpg...

Yeah, I don't consider the gauge a true way to measure. I'm old school: fill it up, drive, & refill it. Divide total mileage from 1st tank by the amount of gallons on the 2nd fill-up.

BTW; I average about 20 in the city & my highest on a road trip was 29.

PS. There was some guy on the board a few years back that re-set his gauge, coasted down a mountain road, and took a picture of his gauge. It had a MPG of about 60.

the Z's digital gauge is just average MPG since reset, if you reset it on the freeway or goin down hill you can get it to show 99 i have lots of times.

but the longer you get it go it will factor in the city and bring average wayyyy down

I just got over 500 miles, one tank on my '03. Drove on the highway at about 70 mph cruise control non stop.

Although, this was after my Borla install so I suspect that the ECU had not yet adjusted fully. I'm getting mid-30's highway now. City = .

Whoa Steve, I guess you are easy on the gas. I get 19.5 mpg maximum (over a full tank) and that's with mostly hwy driving for commuting.

Yeah, that was just sitting around 60mph. The more you are on/off the gas, the worse your MPG will be. Ease up!

You're missing the point though: I don't want to. If I wanted consistent 30+mpg, I would have purchased a hybrid. I really don't mind 19mpg. It's completely reasonable and in line with how I like to drive.

I agree with that. I just get really excited when I hit 30+MPG in such a well-performing sportscar. If I was getting 10MPG then my wife would complain.

Filled up on a cool night on the way back from LA. I have a TT but i think the guage is off. However I made it home without a fillup. I was Near that Gas station after grapevine where all the bugs are.
