probably the Z by a little, but the Z is a better value IMHO, s2k has a cheaper interoir feel and is little go-kart

economy mode is nice when gas prices are ridiculous
its good to have a switch between economy and power
i wish our cars could do that...
when gas was 4 dollars a pop ... economy mode would come in very handy

In this case 350 > 2000.

to get a non bias opinion ask a general sports car forum or something. your going to get a lot of "Z is better" on this forum, and a lot of "s2000 is better" on the s2000 forums. try a regular forum or something.

Depends on the driver!
My MY02 s2k did 1/4 mile in 13.9 after I put about 12k miles on it. I think the new MY04+ does a little better.
I almost bought the MY05 ZR but it felt heavy. I didn't open it up because of cold weather/poor traction.

Are you just comparing the two to see which is faster or are you considering buying one or the other?
Because, if you already have 1 or the other and want to race the other, well, it's a driver's race. They are very close. If you are comparing magazines, well the 0-60 times are better in the s2k. 0-100? 0-120?? 0-150??? But due to the higher torque of the Z, and VTEC of s2k, if it's a rolling start, it'll probably be the Z. But, then again, until how fast: 100 mph, 125 mph, etc, I'm not sure.

In regards to gas mpg, I did average 24-27 mpg on the s2k the whole time I owned it (~30k miles). My G35c only got ~18 mpg, and I'm thinking that's about same as the Z.

If I were to do it again, would I get the new '06 s2k or '06 ZR? I'm not sure.
Best bang for the buck would be the s2k.
Comfort would be the ZR.
gas mpg would be the s2k.
looks, well, that can go either way.
practicality, they are the same.
safety would be the ZR (side airbags and VDC and traction control)
fun factor would be the s2k (bias from past experience)
speed, power, accerlation, etc. They are about the same. I mean, honestly, who can tell the difference of 0.2 seconds anyways!

My 2 cents

Z is a tad bit faster, not by much.. and a good driver in a S2k can kill a Z so don't underestimate them. Roughly you can say - the same speed. Both great looking cars, but the chicks dig the Z more in my personal poll I've taken hahahha. As far as handling, there was a video somewhere on this forum where these japanese guys were testing out handling capabilities on the track, 350z vs s2k vs Porsche Boxter vs M3 and a GTR R34 being the cameraman in the back. 350z Took the lead and finished first, S2k being second (porshe being last) etc. But if you look carefully at the video, the GTR came in and sorta interrupted the race just a bit, he zoomed forward and passed the S2k trailing the Z by a hair, thus unabling the S2k to pass the Z for a good 1-2 mins during the race. All cars were stock, so to answer the question on the twisties, I'd say they're roughly the same too, it's more of a driver's race than anything. Both cars have bullet proof motors and never really need maintenance. Both very fast + agile. However, I'd still stick with the Z since the chicks dig it more, hahahaha

depends what you mean by "faster"

I've seen a J's S2000 and a Amuse S2000 blow away a Central 20 modified 350Z on Japan's twisty Touge.

Some S2000 drivers are faster than 350Z drivers. Some 350Z drivers are faster than S2000 drivers.

S2k is a different machien from the Z, they approach the same result from different angles. Z is brute force while the S2k is through elegance and agility. In the end, they're both about the same. S2k gets an advantage in the tracks, and the Z gets its advantage in looks (subjective..) and trq output. Bothcars are nice. If I was shorter and not a fat *** I would've gotten an S2k since honda trannys are nice and reliability is not an issue. Also, S2ks have a much bigger aftermarket, even though Z's have a big one as well. S2k however, has a tight interior. It is though, a convertible, which is also a big plus.

After trying to decide between these two cars i went with the z...

IMHO the Z is a better daily where the S2k is more of a weekend toy...
Z has more usable power for around town aka you don't have to rev it.
The Z isn't a convertible, nice to not worry about it (security ect)
There is more space in the z, I'm 6'4".
The S2k interior IMO is nicer, simple and clean.
