Default License Plate Holders?

Hey all. This week im getting my plates for my Z. My front bumper doesnt have any holes drilled in it and I want to keep it that way. Is there a License Plate holder that attaches to the grill or something?

And where can i buy one of these. I dont want to buy it online and was wondering if anyone knows which stores sell such a thing.

Much thanks for the help =)

P.S. i need a avatar asap

Stillen also make a great front plate holder that screws into the threaded tow hook receptiticle. I got it because I thought it was such a clever idea and requires no modifications

You might be able to find this at a store, but buying online is so much easier... I ordered from the Stillen website and they shipped out the very next day.

Yeah, it's $$$ for what it is, if you know of a good machine shop i'm sure they can whip one of these out for ya in a jiffy. Just use the tow hook as a template. It's made to last tho. I figure in a front end collision it might be the only thing left standing!

Actually...I'm in the process of moving and tapped a moving box in my garage with this front plate holder. The main part of the mount was fine, but the small allen screw that holds the license plate to the backing plate snapped and broke inside the mount. That's definitely the weakest part of the system but it is very clean.

Ouch. I just looked at it again and I can see how over time you could develop a crack in that bolt where something like that could happen ( mine is the 22mm model and has a 1/4" flanged/countersunk screw was yours the same or the 16mm model?). If it is any consolation, at least the parts are steel and you can still weld the front plate back onto the main shaft

Something i've been wondering about this model and the other model that attaches to the grill. When the license plate is on, doesn't it affect the performance of the radiator? If you attach the plate onto the bumper only part of the plate hangs down over the grill, but these other solutions have the entire plate blocking the grill. I'll probably leave mine off most of the time and just use it if I get a fix-it ticket.

You may try what I did. I took some metal cutters and trimmed the plate to fit the shape of bumper. Then just some zip ties to attach to grill. This is not blocking much airflow as there was already some black box or something behind this area anyway. Just an idea for you. Yes I know I need to get a lip for the car, I know I know.

Now im just wondering where to attach it. I was thinking right in the middle of the grill but u said it will cut off airflow.... what is the best place if you dont mind me asking?

I would say put it where you think it looks best. I like mine where it is at. Seems like the majority of airflow to radiator comes from the center area of bumper.
