i have a friend who bought an rsx today an the dealer who sold him the car told him the 350z was too powerful for a kid my age to drive..he said "your going to kill yourself" he has an 05 m3 an he says hes too scared to drive that because rear wheel drive was so powerful or something..so..i just wanted to ask you guys if the car is really too much to handle for me..I currently drive a 2001 honda accord ex sedan and i am buying my 350z soon...thanks
How old are you? Every situation is different (some ppl start their racing career during their teens) but for the normal kids of the street, the Z is too much for them.
Keep your Accord and when you get more experience than get a Z.

Depends on you. The car is fine. No reason for you to be fearful of it but do be respectful. Learn how to drive the car, avoid street racing, & for pete's sake don't drink & drive.
Self control is the issue here; not age.

Im 26 and have my 2nd Z. 0 accidents ever. There is a reason it is called a sports car, I have had times where things got really scary. If you are new to driving, leave traction control on at all times.

is it a total difference changing from a 150 hp car to a 300 hp car? i mean can i drive it like it was 150 hp ...carefully then once i get used to it geta little faster
it is totally different and the youth of age will want you to race and drive it hard eventually getting someone hurt. If you do drive hard, do it on a track or on a deserted road.
A rear wheel car drives and handle very different from a front wheel drive car. Learn what that difference is but do it safely.

I'm an experienced driver at 31 (street and not racing) and never had an at fault accident and 5 or so near misses in my life... you get the drift....
The first day I got my Z I was surprised at the power and handling compared to my previous sedan that I almost oversteered into a curb while taking a corner at moderate speed....
The Z will stick to the road, watch where you point that wheel, and a little pressure on the pedal makes it move in a hurry...
Actually I like taking my Z on corners just to feel the G's ...
You should be able to handle the Z if it was just you and the Z... it's when you have a fast car and people edge you on to keep going faster, or beat that light or pass that car... and so on....
that's when accidents happen... plus the passenger distracts you by his cheering.... and that's a formula for an accident...
If I had a kid and I bought him a Z, I'd rip the passenger seat out and make it a single seater... just my 2 cents

Ya i kind of have the same problem as well.. Im 16 and im about to get a Z.. I heard from places that the Z is too powerful for new drivers...
I mean, how difficult can it be, if we the new drivers just drive normal and avoid racings?
I think those ppl that said the Z is too powerful is because they think that teens r into street racing and that if they do get a Z, theyre gonna ill themselves.. I could be wrong though

Outside of sports car, most accidents happen at low speeds.
If your responsible and think you can handle it go for it. after a few months youll naturally stop gunning it every street cause you realize how much gas your wasting and ****. Do it.

i think if your asking that question you might already know the answer.
like most said it depends on the driver and situation
for example my senior year in high school i had a brand new C5 corvette. and i never raced anyone on the street ,got in one wreck or even a speeding ticket. and that car was alot more car than the Z
if you be responsible , keep your ego in check ,and acknowledge that you are not a professional driver, anyone can drive any car

why dont u just post ur age
? For a first car, i wouldnt recommend a high performance sports car, but if u have atleast a couple (atleast 2 yrs of driving experience, and drivers permit doesnt count), then id think you are good to go with a sports car. I know this is not what every 15/16/17 year old would want to hear, but its the truth. I got mine when i was 17 3/4 (now 18 1/2; almost my z's one year anniversary now), 0 accidents, 1 minor speeding ticket, i thought it was a 35mph zone, but it turned into a 30mph and i didnt realize it. Before this i had a couple years of driving experience in a jeep grand cherokee.

LOL. You'll be fine. In the wrong hands a 100 horsepower car is as dangerous as one with 300 horsepower. Respect the machine, and don't play foolish games on the street. I suggest that all new 350 drivers take professional driving lessons, and drive on the track. At the track you'll sharpen your skills, and chase other cars which perform similarly to the 350Z. Once you’ve done that several times, you’ll have nothing to prove on the street.

BTW there are no trophies for street racing.

I drove a 1989 Jeep Wrangler for 2 years and just recently got a 350Z about 2 months ago and I LOVE it. Its really damn fast, more than u'd expect. U'll be able to handle it, just be careful and dont do anything you dont feel comfortable doing. u'll get the hand of it. So forget your honda, join the Z realm.
Got my license at 20. Drove a 1995 525i for a year then got my Z. So far so good. Respect it's capabilities. Fear her! Not to the point of not driving her but to the point where your double-think doing dumb ****.
