Question about warranty
I just bought a used 2003 350z from a private dealer. He said he has the "extended 100,000 mile warranty" on it. Do I have to call up Nissan to transfer it or do I just leave it alone and when I need to go into Nissan for a fix-up under warranty, they will just look it up and everything will be ok. Sorry if this is a repost, I tried searching
Thanks!
Thanks!

The warranty is always upheld by a 3rd party. Meaning: If the factory warranty is for 60k but you purchase extended warranty for 100k, the remainding 40k of the warranty is upheld by the company you purchased the warranty from. When you buy a new car, the dealership will sell you this warranty and will usually give you a packet that has the 3rd parties information on it incase you need to have you car warrantied under the extended warranty agreement.
In your situation, I'd check with the 3rd party. Generally extended warranty work can only be claimed by the original purchaser.

not likely. what he means is that the warranty is covered by a company seperate from nissan and/or the dealer. you should have a contract on the warranty which states what is covered/not covered for how long, with what deductable, an ID# and a phone # to contact the warranty company. so you should be able to take your Z to any licensed mechanic/nissan dealer and get work done via that warranty. all they do is call up your warranty company to verify coverage.

ok so I still haven't gotten my extended warranty problem over with. I called up the Nissan Dealership in Hawaii that sold the warranty to the original buyer of the car and they confirmed that the car has the extended warranty. However, they said that only the person who bought the warranty can transfer the warranty over to me and I won't be able to get any extended warranty done without doing that, but I moved to California and I have lost contact with the seller. What can I do??? Thanks for everybodys' time.
