underneth it is the same platform and for that matter the same car... The G has slightly less performance by the numbers due to the extra weight. If you post this question in a Z forum people will say to get the Z for X reasons and the opposite is true if you post on a G forum...

IMO if you want very nice performance with the usability of a backseat and a trunk get the G, or the more "true" sports car feel of a two seater get the Z...

Get the G35, less 350Z out there, the better.

If you really dont have an over riding passion to have a 2 seater sportscar then be practical and get the G35C. Unless you plan to track it, the performance difference is not great enough to really worry about it. I am guessing you dont have the sportcar fever otherwise you would not be asking the question you did. The ride of the G is slightly softer and it is quieter so unless your objective is to give up those things (including a backseat) for a slight edge in performance, get the G35. You can mod either one and the VQ motor is basically the same.

If time is not a factor, I would wait for the new G coupe:

Why not drive both and see which one you like best.

Get G if you're married with one or two childs
Get Z if you're single with a single GF...

After hearing about people spending around 15k-20k for turbo upgrades, tuning, building bottom end.... you might be better off getting an M3, Corvette, or maybe a used M5.

Definitely wait for the 2007 G35...that's what I'm waiting for. My mind has always been set on the G35 coupes but seeing the 350Z 06, I changed my mind on the G35. Now that I've seen the redesign on the G35...its not even something I'm thinking about. I love the redesigned G35.

Guess I'm in the minority. I like the older 2003 G35coupe look. The really awsome thing I like about the new G35 is the back end. I like where they are going with the rear(although it doesn't give to much room/option for aftermarket exhausts). But the front end is getting worse IMHO.

Honestly,

I own both. And I absolutely adore both.

My G35C is my daily driver however it has been tracked as much as my Z. My last Z was a roadster, yet got rid of it and just acquired a Z coupe to turn into my primary track car. A Coupe is Safer than the roadster for sure.

However, I can make either perform just about equal for the parts are almost all interchangeable except Sways and Exhaust.

NOTE: The G is definitely more luxurious. Without a doubt. And the Z OUT OF THE BOX will be more responsive in handling and braking for the 400 plus lbs saved in weight.

Yet, if you really want the best advice, DRIVE BOTH. They are so close in price; Sooo let your own Wants and Needs answer your own question.

Good luck.

Another plus for the G35 is the longer warranty.

G35 has the luxury factor.

Z has the coolness factor.

Drive both; choose one that gets your heart pumpin' the most!
